6x6 Ford Aeromax Log Truck

Always wanted a 6x6 but didnt want to pay for a beast or a worminator so I started with 2 highlift frames, set my length cut and reassembled the two halves. Its running a highlift 3 speed tranny with 3 highlift axles leafsprung with a HR front shaft rc4wd super long punisher shaft and a modified globeliner driveshaft with ballcups on the rear. I also modified the primary axle to accept a double pinion. Electronics are dual AS2 servo's Integy 45t motor Novak Rooster ESC, Spektrum sr300 rx and venom 4600 6 cell. I had my old Areomax semi cab laying around and put it to good use along with the fuel tanks and running boards. To top it off and relieve some stress from my Globeliner, I took my homebrew log bunk and bolted it on to the remaining frame. I will be using 6 Maxxis trepadors and updating this as it progresses. Heres where im at now:

Hopefully she turns out to be a stout little pulling machine. Still need to work out some steering issues but you never have a finished rig

You have no idea how long I was sitting there debating on hacking the sleeper off on it. Now im debating throwing a set of custom stacks behind the side fairings or possibly a headache rack

I was planning on parting it out after taking a lot of the parts to retrofit onto the 6x6. Told you they were addicting lol

Its got all that just need to throw a cross member in the front so the leafs are there and you're good to go

Nice start, I like the Aero 6x6 idea, it's different than the norm. "thumbsup"

One thing I'd recommend upgrading is that poor little dogbone between the rear axles, it won't last long if you drive like I do. ;-)

Thanks, Ive never seen one so I figured Id be the odd one to try it. That dog bone believe it or not is as strong as the punisher shaft I milled down both ends and filled completely in with a mig welder and ground it back into a shaft rather than a blob. The only issue I ran into is steering. I had to hijack the stock steering link off a semi along with the servo mounts and left turns are almost impossible. I also had to re route the shift linkage to where it runs diagonal opposed to a straight line they way it is stock.

Been a while since I've updated this. Got a few pics from its virgin run, what better way than in mud!

Why pay 800 for just a rtr frame when you'll end up having over a grand in it when you;re done vs making your own for less than the beast
