Not sure just yet, whatever you think will push it around. I plan on using a bulletproof AX10 trans but that may change. I am guessing close to the 20lbs-25lbs range after it's built. I will try to save weight where I can. All 4 axles will have underdrive gears in them. Wraith axle up front and three widened AX10 axles out back. Rearmost axle will be a steer axle as well.

I'd hook up a low kV brushless sensored setup and gear it down via two sequential transmissions. This would require a custom "shaft plate" instead of a motor plate on the second one but would be cool.

Sounds great. You may take the lead on that project and have a prototype back to me in less than 3 weeks. I look forward to working with you on this.

the three axles out back will have two pass through axles. That's the rough idea now.

If we lived in the same town and back and forth wasn't via mail I'd do it in a heartbeat.

yep, I figure. As an up and coming young manager with my company, I was trying to assert my will and expectations on you. But really, lets go ahead and get started on that at the next available moment.

I have a few ideas but won't hash them out until I get the frame rails set. Which will be soon because the 4 axles should be here today.

Mocked up axles with two pass throughs. The drive axles have hex wideners on them for now but will get longer beef tubes in the future.
Wraith axle up front.
The rearmost axle will be a steer axle.

What if you kept the ax axles stock width and ran duals instead of super singles?

Whoa, now you got me thinking.

Rear super singles...
3 longer beef tube sets = $80
4 sets of xr10 rear shafts = $80

Rear duals...
3 more pairs of tires $80
3 more pairs of wheels $50
Dual adapters of some sort $ ?. I could probably use some VP DH Hubs.

The rear-most axle will be a steering axle and not sure if I would like the looks of duals on a steer axle. I guess I could make the rear most axle a super single setup, with duals on the front two?

Thoughts, anyone?

I think it would look better with super singles all around. Either way, your going to need a tow rig for your tow rig, that thing is BEEF!

On a side note, on your second pass through axle, is the input pinion the new axle case you put on to make it a pass through? Is the rear axle upside down in relation to how it should be? I'm trying to figure out how you are getting the pinions to spin correctly so that all tires move in the same direction. Unless i'm wrong, which I could be, the pinions on the two pass through axles will be spinning opposite of each other, right?

I was kinda leaning towards the super singles as I had planned. I'll be using RC4WD Mil Spec 2.2 tires.

You can see on the tops of the axles where I drew arrows to remember the orientation. The middle of the three rear is "Flipped" so the input and output jive with the front and rear axles. I had to spin the first axle and see which way the rear output was turning, then flip the middle one to work and the rear one stayed the same.

Man I can't wait to see this moving along. I'll have to see if my cad program can scale the 3d rendering of the rig I'm doing so I can get it started.

As for your wheels I also am running mil spec only I'm running militants for rims. What super singles would you use? I have not seen any 2:2 military style s. Singles or duals? The tamiya ones don't quite for the bill and would require a lot of work to the tires to make them fit and look right since their 1.7s. But I also agree that duals on a steer axle wouldn't look quite right

Just ordered 10, 2.2 Mil Specs and going to use Axial Trail Ready Beadlocks for now.

Alan Man has this rig and posted some pictures on the Wraith Facebook page in my CXT post.
2.2 Duals !

Wanted to keep this look of the rear suspension

So I dug around my parts bins and found these from an HPI Mini trophy Truck. Just might do, so I ordered up 4 more. Some grinding and screwing.

Nice, that turned out great. Now find some nice looking boots from some brake calipers and you've got the air bags.

Yea, it was like a light flipped on when I saw it. Bought two more pairs for $12 each. I will be running springs made to look like a coil spring setup. Not sure if Ill try and pull the air bag look off or not. Depends on what I can find to mimic that look. With this arm setup, there wouldn't be a mount for the bag behind the axle.

That's killer - I think that's only the second time I've seen a true LR radius arm set up used.

Going to be a cool rig. If you decide on the duals here is what I made for my f-350 dually. Of course you'd need one longer for 2.2 sized tires most likely. The lugs on the tires lock together pretty well so a hex on the outside tire isn't even needed.
