Are you going to run all the axles locked? If so, and the front will be the only steer axle, it's going to turn like poop. Especially with the spacing of the three rear axles.

Aside from that, this is pretty cool, looking forward to some more progress.

Oh, and I also agree with the drop axle idea. Keep posting updates!

Yes, all locked for now is the plan. Front wraith axle will be steer and rearmost ax10 widened axle will be steer. Might be tough to see in pictures. I don't see this pig hitting the trail too often but who knows.
I had thought about a drop axle a few weeks ago but I didn't think about running smaller tires on said drop axle.
I will be able to do some more decision making when these 10, 2.2 MilSpecs get unhung from the USPS grapple hold.

Awesome, rear steer axle should help some.

10 2.2 MilSpec tires you say? Yikes, that's some coin right there.

$140 shipped from RC4WD. Not too bad in my opinion. Guess I'll have to buy a pair of 1.9 Mil Specs too, for the drop axle , well this will need a trailer too, so make that at least 3 more pairs of 1.9 Mil Specs.

This rig is around $1,200 or so. I had alot of the parts laying around. And yea, the first time I built a nice IFS Wraith setup it was around $1,200.

Sweet. Pretty sure I had one of those growing up or really really wanted one.

The ten RC4WD 2.2 Mil Spec tires are MIA. Last scanned at a PO on last Monday. Maybe they'll show this Monday.

So, Front axle mostly done for now. Still need some upgrades.
Integy HD Ring and Pinion gear, 13/38
Bronze bushings for pinion
GripFab ARB Locker
Vanquish bearing caps
Vanquish axle housing
Integy C-Hubs
Dinky R/C Wraith 4-link servo mount
Plastic diff, knuckles and lower mounts for now and mock up steering link.

Mocked up the 4 other rear dampeners. Twin hammer springs, cups, rod ends and some all thread.

Excellent idea on the stretch, that will really pull off the drop axle/tire look.

Mil Specs didnt show today. USPS is holding my build ransom!

Anywho, spent some time today regearing the rear three axles with underdrive gears and RCP lockers. Two pass throughs and one rear steer.

Then I got to the rearmost axle and started scratching my head. Need the rear lower mounts the output case offers to mount up to the trailing arms but need the servo posts the smooth diff side offers. So, I started cutting. Lower link mounts cut off and added back to smooth diff case. Future beef tubes will help secure the backside lower mounts. Holla! Problem solved.

Thanks. I was going to use another output case out back and use a piece of delrin to cap it off. Would have been ok but no servo posts! See pic below...

My pops is visiting this weekend and I started showing him what I was doing. He mentioned chopping up the two cases since beef tubes would be used and since the main point was to retain the lower twin hammer arms so all the three rears looked the same. And those lower arms need the two mounting points.

The good news. Some more parts showed up from Amainhobbies.
Vanquish Wraith knuckles for wraith front axle and rear ax10 longer beef tubed axle
Vanquish Wraith steering link for wraith axle
STRC wraith C-Hubs for rear ax10 longer beef tubed axle
4 sets of xr10 straight rear axles for the two pass through longer beef tubed axles

Longer beef tubes, MIPs, two 1.9 mil specs in the mail.

The bad news, still no sight of my ten 2.2 tires from RC4WD. Ok, USPS, its been 7 business days, quit playing around. This shipment is holding up major progress!

Me too. They where sent Priority and are 4 days late at least. They scanned into two locations my mail usually doesn't go to. Looking at the scans, I hope to have them Friday.

And I do not want to start the chassis without the tires mounted on the axles. There is only one way to build a chassis and that is chassis rails at full bump with axles, wheels and tires. No other way, unless you want subpar geometry.

True that - really looking forward to seeing the chassis come together

2.2 mil specs should be here tomorrow. I hope to get some work done this weekend.

Got a small parts order from RppHobby

Two sets of MIPs (1 pictured) to be cut down for pass throughs and to be extended for wraith and first rear axle.
Needed some more narrow hexes

1.9 MilSpecs for testing the front drop axle concept. Stretched over 2.2 wheel

Just mounted up for now. Not sure if the wheels will get painted or not.

Speaking of looks, I may go back to a scratch built M1070 cab. 11" wide and 15.5" long. Got some help from a board member . We'll see how it goes.
