Did some more tinkering today. I filled the cranes shocks with 85w120 castrol lsd oil to help with the weight problem from a heavy pull and I made a bracket up to hold the winch.

.

Just need to build the end of the boom and its done. Well the crane anyway.

Also this got finished tonight and are getting mailed in the morning.

Got my hex extenders for the rear today. 25mm extensions and the tyres just clear.

I had to make a sleeve out if styrene tube to slip over the threaded axle end to take the slop out of the extenders.
They appear to be drilled to fit snug over the pin area but not over the rest of the end.

Get a load of that rear end!
.

Hopefully the cab, servo and front 17mm extenders turn up tomorrow.

I got my cab today.
Its a Peterbilt 376. Its fairly detailed to which was a plus. And Bonus!! It has headlights already and engine sounds and an AIRHORN! now I just need to figure out how I can put the airhorn button to a channel on a remote.

Fresh in its box just after I picked it up from the post office.

All mounted up and ready to go.

Next item on the list is to make a tool box between the cab and the tray. This will house the electrics and the battery.

Im hoping to have it out for a test run this sunday. Even if it means my drift car has to donate its electrics for the day.

Looks Like the body is a bit narrow? Do you plan on keeping this one? Anyhow the build looks great I love the way you did the duelly's The always look weird when they are Just bolted to the outside of the rim. Ill be keeping an eye on this build keep it up.
As far as the switch This is a way to make it. I dont know if you know how to do this stuff. But here it is. You would just use your switch in place of the switch on the camera it works the same.
Aiptek 1.3M Switch
You could rig up a servo to push a switch in. Good luck

Yeah the body is a bit narrow. But unfortunately all the big rig cabs are 1:14 - 1:16. I put axial narrow wheel hexes on the front last night and it doesn't look as bad. Put some flares on and it will be all good.

Thanks for the link on the switch ill have to give it a read today.

Finished the crane of tonight.

Took it for a bit of a shake down run today after work.
Found out a few things.
1. The middle axle liked to walk off to the right.
2. The gearbox would slip.

Other than that it went great.

I tore the gearbox down when I got home and found that one of the bearings on the spurgear shaft was rooted. So under load the spur would pop away from the pinion.

The axle was a bit of a headache though. I sorted it by useing two of the extra shocks I had as movable links.
Didnt get any pics of it though ill get them tomorrow at the local comp.

Bit of a compare shot.

Pics from todays outing.

Was a good day out. Found out that the ax10 driveshaft that goes to the rear isnt up to the task. It cant handle the torque it popped the uni joint 4 times. So looks like some steel junfacs or MIPS are in order.

Tonight I knocked up some fuel tank/sliders for it.

Not much progress this week. Been pretty hectic after work so nothing got done :-( .
I did how ever start the trays tool box.
This will house all electrics and the battery.

I have also bewn thinking of getting the super smoker V4 with esc, for it. The esc version is sweet. The more throttle you give the truck the more smoke the generator produces.

Going to try do more work tomorrow night. Stay tuned

looks really good. I think your right fender flares will make all the difference. I drive hd wreckers for a living and the back is always wider than the cab so keep it up.
Im about to make a single axle tow truck i might use a few of you back end ideas.
You know a sleeper would be easy to make and blend the body to the back nicely.

Been really sick the last few days so havent done alot of work on the Titan.

I changed to a delrin turntable base instead of a washer. And got a pleasant surprise. The turning radius went from about 90° total to about 200° total.

That was all I got done on friday.
But yesterday when I was feeling a little better I started this!!!

Still heaps to go in the rear. But im already thinking of the paint scheme. Red front half with black rear split by a silver stripe.

Oh and put this on for s@$# and giggles

So I decided on the weekend that it was time to get the 2nd colour on the truck.

Black was the colour of choice with a silver or white strip to come later.

Paint in progress.

Body paint done.

Since I was already throwing paint around I decided to do the boom too.

I think I need to do the turntable/cranebase in gunmetal or silver to make it stand out a bit more.
Also considering doing the rear deck in checker plate.

I forgot to mention I made a new hook block for the crane. Looks a bit more realistic than what I had on there.

Its made from an Awning pulley and a brass eyelet screw.
Brazed them together and hey presto awesome hook block.

Went for a crawl with the Titan this afternoon, i took the crane off due to lack of stability with it on, and wow does this thing crawl well, it only had one roll over all after noon, thank god it did no damage.

they crane may only go on for special occasions now, it crawls to damn good without it

Extremely cool!

How well are the dually wheels holding up? Any issues at all?

No issues at all so far with the duals. The pvc is a pretty tight fit. Plus i glued it in lol.
Only issues i have been having is it needs more steering throw and I break drift shafts occasionally. Slowly they are all being changed to metal ones.
