MAN can't wait to get this build on. Been wanting a military style recovery vehicle for a while now so I finally pulled the trigger on one. This one is made by Cross RC and it's fresh off the boat from China. Looks like a ton of plastic work and a lot of stuperglued fingers ahead of me lol. Tranny wheels/tires and axles come pre-assembled so that cuts some time down even though I need to go into all 3 and the trans to make sure they have enough grease in them. Really stoked to get this build going. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/20/avase9e2.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Very interested in this, following. |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Also will be following. What size are the wheels? |
They are 1.9's 4 1/4" tall x 1 1/4" wide Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Sure enough the tranny and axles were rough as hell with a light coating of Tamiya style white grease so I packed em full.of blue marine including the planetary in the tranny Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Blasted through the chassis and I'm gonna blame it on the Chinese writing but somehow I managed to put the tranny in backwards and had to rotate it. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/20/emequjur.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/20/ebevyme6.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/20/u6eqyta9.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/20/bu4avezu.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Oh now that's cool. What color are you thinking, desert sand or olive green or something else even? |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Dare I ask where you purchased this kit? Pm me please if you feel it appropriate. |

Ok folks some more progress the cab is ready for paint and onto the 8 million pieces that make up the bed http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/21/9yma5upe.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Lotta progress made today still going through all the painting and plastic work. I've chosen rust-oleum camouflage sand and matte black for all the accents. The bed was a bit of a pain in the ass to put together but once it dried back to smooth sailing. I can almost say this ones pretty much wrapped up but yall know me and my rigs they're never fully done. Here's some more pics. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/21/yve4ezu5.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/21/yte2y4ev.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/21/esadujaj.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Looking good MC. Looks to be going together quickly too. "thumbsup" |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Your learning Chinese quickly, looking good! |
Finally got around to wiring up the esc setting the servo and hooking up the lights. Even took her for a night test run. Looks very promising so far the turning radius is actually pretty good for a 6x6 http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/22/zyte7yte.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/22/3uhe5evy.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/22/a8evyjug.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/22/dynepe5y.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. MAN I'm slow.I just realized this is the same truck that northernerbill just finished! Looks good so far. Any idea on what the turning radius is?? Having seen some 6x6's it looks like you need half a football field to turn them around. And do you have an SCX or a TF that you can put next to it for a size comparison? Thanks |

Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. That would be great thanks! |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Oh yeah, I really like this. Should be a lot of fun for you! "thumbsup" |
Here's a comparison shot between the 1:12 MAN and my 1:10 Lincoln scx10. I also changed over to 6 1.9 flashpoints on black steelies for added grip and more of a military look http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/24/2ape2e9a.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/24/hy8usu6e.jpg Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Looks great with the Flashpoints! Really gives it that military look. Thanks for the comparison shot, very helpful! |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Very cool! That Body is so nice. Looks like a nice kit! |

Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Nice job on the rig my man! Been eye balling one up for awhile. So.....now that you have had out a couple times, what's the verdict, thumbs up or down? Would you recommend the kit to others who want to venture into multi-axle rigs? |
Quote:
Lets start with the pros It's fairly easy to put together even though the instructions are in Chinese the illustrations make it easy to assemble. The stock motor has plenty of power. It's cms out of the box. Axles and tranny come preassembled. Light kit is included, all the body panels have grooves in them that makes it easier to build and overall driving is very surprising for a narrow axled rig as well as the steering. Now for the cons Although assembled the axles and tranny need to be thoroughly greased as they are almost bone dry. Assembling the body is a very time consuming process which patience is virtue since it's a heavy gauge plastic vs styrene and you'll need a couple tubes of superglue to build. The biggest con for those who want to climb everything is the approach angle of the front end. My first run I ripped off the front bumper and popped the small shaft off the rear end altho it was easily popped back in. Judgement time. Is it worth $700 and a 2-3 week wait from China? In my opinion yes. Despite it saying 1:12 scale it's huge the bed has tons of room the cab tilts for easy access to electronics and it's quality of parts rivals that of rc4wd and makes axial look like a Lego set. Hope that helps "thumbsup" Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. wow 700$ thats pretty cheap for all of that |
$599 plus another $98 for shipping can't really beat it. I'd put it up against a beast and I think they'd run well together Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk |
Re: MAN can't wait to get this build on. Thanks for the honest info my man. |
