Planning to build a 6 x 6 Hi guys, I'm almost new to all this but love reading here and doing research. I want to build a 6x6 in the near future. Any reference of where to get info on a good build or suggestions on where to start? Chassis? Axles? Motor? And so on |
There are quite a few nice builds here by some talented builders, look through them. You have to decide what style you want and then go from there. The chassis and driveline are pretty simple, finding a hardbody cab & bed that fit can be a little challenging. Plan on fabricating some parts, you can buy a good amount from the vendors here, but there will be parts you just have make. *** |
Re: Planning to build a 6 x 6 jmz6, What chassis is a good recommendation? I was thinking on do SCX-10 two chassis put together, is that any good? |

Buy a scx10 chassis and add on 6 inches or so on the end. You can do it many ways. Or rc4wd has 6x6 chassis you can buy. Haven't used that one. The reason I'm suggesting to buy a prebuilt chassis is because of the tolerances used. Drilling your own holes leads (for me) error. Which equals crooked parts. Which is a no no for me. |
Re: Planning to build a 6 x 6 Yes, they work fine. I have used SCX, semi, and custom chassis' on 6x6 & 8x8 builds, they all have their positive and negative's. Bottom line is build what you want, not what others tell you they think is best. |
1 Attachment(s) Look up my 6x6 build if you want to see an extended SCX10 chassis. I also use a gear reduction and transfer case setup to the SCX10 axles. Attachment 286516 Kling-On RC "The Original Spot to Let Your RC Hang" www.klingonrc.com www.shop.klingonrc.com |
