How to mod the middle axle off an SCX10???

Hey,

Just ordering parts for my 6x6 build. Planning on using 3 SCX 10 axles, a K2 6x6 chassis, unsure about shocks. 2.2 wheels. Man cab from a bruder truck. MMP ESC, still unsure about the motor as well.

Anyways, what I am wondering is, how does the mod go to use the scx 10 axle for the middle axle? (drive shaft in the front and out the back) does anyone have a step by step on how to do this?

Also does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the k2 6x6 chassis?

Thanks!

Re: How to mod the middle axle off an SCX10???

First you will need two front case halves (pinion side) and two pinion gears along with all the necessary bearings . That part is pretty straightforward just assemble . I haven't done an axle mod in a while but there may be a lip on the case half mating surface, if there is you will need to remove that lip so the case halves fit together tightly, a hobby knife/utility knife, etc works well.
The rearmost axle will have to be flipped 180 deg so the rotation is correct. Look through some builds here and see what others did.

You take the 2 front halves

The lip that needs to be shaved off (both halves)

Complete shaved, it should look like this

Halves together

And put it together like a rear axle.

You should have roughly this amount of material on the bench when youre done, it isn't much.

Once you have everything in front of you and start working, it is a bit self explanatory. Any other questions, feel free to ask.
