Totally missed that question bigski asked but x2!

I used SSD rear XR Wide Mod and front XR wide mod CVDs straight from the packages with these housings and VP wraith parts. No issues.

No worries mate, I didn't realize that these were made by someone else. I have lots of stl. files that would be soooo nice made out of metal, just haven't been brave enough to squeeze the trigger from shapeways.

Your walking beam- I'm guessing that the parallel arms are just to space the axles for measurements as it wouldn't allow for lateral flex? You gots to have flex...

Rear suspension flexes just like a 4-link setup. Since it has the lower axle "beams" it works in like a teeder-todder motion as well, on top of the normal 4 link action.

Ill get a short video up in a few days. Still tweaking on the setup.

Just an FYI - the material for the printed axle housings is what Shapeways used to call alumide. It's nylon plastic with aluminum dust particles mixed in and is only slightly more expensive than the standard nylon. The metallic particles give it a little sparkle and make it more brittle than their standard nylon. It looks great (and very metal-like) if you get it a little greasy and dirty. They also offer printed metals, but those are much more expensive. But enough from us...you're here for Shane. :-)

Not seeing how the 2 axles can 'cross up' against each other, hopefully the vid will clarify it.

If you think of the driveshaft as the center pivot, then no, the axles cannot flex opposite of each other on that pivot. Ill take better pictures and video in the near future.

:
Are you concerned with the strength of printed parts?

Got the rear suspension to a final "mock up" stage last night. Started on the cab roll bar, cab second roll bar, cab top rack and mounted front bumper last night. Pics in due time.

I thought you ran that servo straight off the battery. No BEC needed

See sarcastic smiley face. Well, I wanted it to be a sarcastic smiley face.

Yes, takes up to 14volts direct, however you choose to supply it.

Nah, the tires will have single stage dueces wild foams, so glue the tires to the wheels and be done.

Been working on this 3-4 hours a day.

Most of the metal work is done. Most. Top cab piece from grill to 1st rear roll bar is removable.
Rushing and making stuff up as I go, in my normal hacktastic fashion. Still a lot left to do.

The way I made the front of the top cage remove-able. Should have done this on the back end too. Nut welded to tube (pic before welding here). Used Carter Fab tabs to do the top side screw setup.

Default Szczerba's 3rd CXT, Build #57

For those curious of the 5-link walking beam, here it is broken down.

Axles with two side beams and panhard mount.

Center pivot shaft/4-link setup

Together

Add some more shocks and custom made 1/4 steel links, slight bends on lowers. Panhard link is behind 4-link.
Front and rear shocks are externally limited 15mm, with 3k diff fluid in the shock bodies.
Center shocks are externally limited 8mm with 100wt shock oil and some sweet firm springs I scored off of ebay.
