Filled the big gap around the gearbox with some steel mesh.

I've been looking into the SD I driveshafts myself. Do you have a measurement on what is the shortest length they could be made? I was thinking if I cut the shaft down to the point the two end hit (still allowing them to extend). I don't know how long the universals on each end are.

Well emailed the seller and hope to hear from him soon.

Found out i ordered the wrong driveshaft for in between the 2nd and 3rd axle, bought SDI shafts 4mm instead of 5mm (what was i thinking).
I like the SDI shafts altough they are expensive. They slide and wont fall out. They keep connected.

For this build i went with Xtra Speed 1/14 shafts. THey are much cheaper then the SDI shafts and look more scale to me.

You can cut them up a bit further. I cut them up to 58mm .

They also have washers included, for the small gap between pinion shaft and drive shaft.

The female shaft part is open on the inside, so no blockade in the shaft, the male shafts slides thru, so you can cut them up relatively short. Do you know what shortest distance you want for your build? I think most of the 6x6 have a gap between 2nd and 3rd axle , around 60mm or more. I have used not very big tires 100mm diameter. If you go for bigger tires, the distance between 2nd row of wheels and 3rd could be to small.

Maybe i go for 114mm tires in the future, but it will be close then.

I am running 2.2 Mud Slinger XL's on my 6x6. I'm not quite sure of the exact distance but I am using a Junfac shaft that is the correct length for a stock Wraith.

I like the way spare tires are mounted on military trucks.

Tried to make something like that with aluminium parts.
I didnt want to drill extra holes in the nice frame rails, so after some thinking, found out i could use the holes for the shock mounts. Whole thing is mounted with two screws on the frame rails. Tyre sits snug between the aluminium profile. But is also secured by some chain and tierips.

First real testdrive today. Unfortunately it ended sooner as expected, due to some electronic problems. Well at least i got some photos in the dirt.

After a few minutes, my servo stalled and it just locked.

Then i tried to restart and my esc didnt want to start up (Holmes esc).
Could this be solved with a bec. I have a towerhobbies 20kg servo in it. Driving on 2s. WIth a cheap GOOLRC 35t brushed motor. This ESC was working with no problems in my other truck.

What a transformation! nice work I liked it in the flat green, but love it in the flat black. The details with the spare tire carrier and the accessories make it stand out. What is your plan for the rear, 5th wheel or bed?

Just cool. It has a primitive ruggedness you'd expect to see in fury road or something similar.

Ordered a winch. Had some problems with cutting the aluminium in the right angle. Dont know yet if the crane sits to high or if i have to lower it. If lower it, i will have to cut the aluminium in another angle.

Lowered the crane a bit, by mounting the links on an other position and cut an angle in the crane.

Side by side with my other 6x6.

Found out my black ops truck made a lot of noise compared to my other 6x6. At first it looked like my slipper was loose. But after fastened it, i found out it was still loud and skipping teeth.

However when i took it al out, the gearbox doesnt had some damage. After a while i found out the cheap Yeah Racing pinion, just didnt line up nice with the spur. Like it wasnt 48p exactly.

Went for a Duratrax 32p 56t spur and a 14t pinion and problem is solved, so much more quiet.

Happy, because i tought about the worse case scenario, stripped bevel gears etc..
No theres only one problem left, 3 of the 6 shocks are leaking, contacted RC Mart and they will contact the manufacter. In the meantime i orderd some cheap shocks, read some good reviews about them. Anyone running these?
