WesleyRoy's Mad Max inspired 6x6 wrecker

A friend of mine opted the idea to build a 6x6, well i already had a 6x6, but tought well, lets make another one.

The first 6x6 i build with a stretch SCX10 chassis and a bullhead body. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/multi...ead-build.html

Wanted to find a cheaper body/cabin this time, and got inspired by the two TMNT build topics here (Sewer Turtle & TMNT 6x6).

Bought two TMNT trucks in a lot on ebay for around 20 dollars a piece. So let's get started.

RCX chassis.

Found out the rails are straight and not bent like the SCX10 rails, so standard crossbraces didnt fix, so had to be creative.

Cutting and glueing.

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps0adcjomw.jpg

Cutted the front fenders, and test fitted on a spare SCX10 chassis.

Used some steel wiremesh for the windows.

Then the shocks came in..

So then i had to find a way to mount the body, while i was cutting up the body i also cutted the front mounting points, so had to find another option.

A friend of mine used a Gmade bumper mount for his 6x6 chassis rails and tought lets give it a try. Mounted a Gmade chassis step up and it fitted well together.

THen started painting. Instead of using expensive Tamiya paint like i did with my other 6x6 build i tried using Motip car paint and works very good and is very cheap.

Started with a primer.

Went with matt black because i really like the look of the armoured trucks.

Had to cut a little around the spur gear. Did cut to much around the gearbox, went for the easy way by just cutting a square out of it. Always like the way people are cutting very precise around an object, but i.m not very good with that.

Still waiting on parts now, beadlocks, link mounts, battery mount. To be continued.

I'm really liking the black. The transmission is the reason I cut my shell so far back. I ended up having to fill in part of the rear wheel well. I also really like you mounting, I have to remove multiple size screws to remove my cab

Thanks. Dont know yet what i am going to build for the back, but maybe i can camouflage the big gap in the body a bit.

Re: WesleyRoy's Black Ops 6x6 truck

Thanks. Had some bad luck today.

Found out one of the beadlocks has a strange problem.
It didnt had a wheel hex in it. It was just round.

Well emailed the seller and hope to hear from him soon.

Found out i ordered the wrong driveshaft for in between the 2nd and 3rd axle, bought SDI shafts 4mm instead of 5mm (what was i thinking).
I like the SDI shafts altough they are expensive. They slide and wont fall out. They keep connected.

That's pretty cool.

Changed the suspension links a bit. Mounted the rear under links to the 2nd axle upper link mount.

Mounted my drive shafts.
And first test drive (wheelhubs not yet installed).

As you can see, the rear shocks needs softer springs and oil.
