Curious to see how putting sophisticated finishes underneath turns out and how you "bring it out". Thanks.
I've done it before on my RC4WD Land Cruiser G2 build. So did n00b. He went through a couple more steps than I did, and his turned out way better, hence why I'm doing it his way this time. Given the right prep, it looks freaking awesome.

Thank you!

The paint process is slow, and time consuming because of all the hand work, but I'm pleased with the results so far. Here's a tease:

Keep in mind, there's a ton more weathering layers that need to go on top of these early layers.

I've been lax on the updates, as when I get into a groove I tend to just keep on keeping on until I realize I've taken zero photos of progress. Oh well. If you have any questions about my weathering processes, I'll try to answer them for you.

I spent a bunch of time weathering and rusting, and weathering, and then rusting, and then weathering again, and for good measure, one more round of rusting. Tons of painting of not just the body, but the entire chassis. I also got all my wiring done, sound unit working and installed and a bunch of mechanical testing. It works - which I'm still kinda blown away by. It's a hoot to watch, and the diesel sound unit is extra awesome. I love when it fires up.

I went through my checklist of junk that still needs to get done, and wow, all I got to do was tick two boxes in two weeks...

Okay, some pics.

Thanks! I hope to shoot a big video whilst at AxialFest, and maybe even before if there's time.

Cheers! Weathering and detail junk is my favorite part!

Today I decided it was time to make tea.

Well, it's got to be! I've pegged this truck as a 1974 model.

It's got to be boxed up and shipped to California prior to my arrival there in July 11th. So with that in mind, it was time to finish up some last minute stuff!

I finally got around to putting a licence plate on it, because street-legal. Tom at RC4WD also hooked me up with a broken Warn 8274 so I could fill that empty spot on the bumper. Much thank for broken pieces for a broken turnk.

Next, obviously, was making sure I had a driver. Jed Clampett was available, and once shin-less, was ready to get behind the wheel.

So he wasn't bored, I added a much scale accurate radio antenna.

It's exhausting how rusty these exhausts have gotten.

For the first time ever, I got my wife interested in tiny trucks. Thankfully, she's an expert seamstress and pattern maker. She helped tremendously by making this tarp cover for the troop carrier. I did some extensive weathering and also firmed it up with a mixture of white glue, water and semi satin clear spray. I've chuffed my gulliver so hard I might be dead.

And since this is a mining/prospecting vehicle, it's best to have some valuable resources!

I'm overall really happy. Hope people appreciate it as much as I do!

Thanks, very kind of you to say!

Oh, forgot about this, but any good mining truck needs a box of poorly stored Dynamite.
