I need to save this thread and show it to people that blast 3D printing. It's a shame how the "big names" of 3D printed parts in scale RC have ruined the reputation of 3D printing because they print and sell low quality parts. The quality is there with the right machine, the right operator and the right post-processing.

Exactly. This truck is faaaaaar from perfect if under heavy scrutiny, but for a FDM printer it's done pretty well with a few hiccups along the way. It all comes down to designing the part with printing in mind, choosing the orientation on the print bed and having the printer settings dead on. Simplify 3D did a pretty good job with the settings for a lot of different filaments, but a print will almost never turn out 100% perfect. There's always post-print work to be done and you can really make a part look like a molded piece with enough time and patience.

The roof is on fire! Well not really, but it is finished and on the truck finally! Mounted up the exo-cage, made some holes for the 3 Proline light bar's wiring and busted out a sway bar setup. Used a stock YETI sway and endlinks with a custom designed bracket to secure it to the frame. Made a HUGE difference and keeps the truck more flat. I think we are going to add one to the rear axle and lower the ride height a bit more by internally limiting the shocks more. Rears have 5mm spacers inside and the fronts have none. I'd feel better having it sit a little lower and not sway side to side so much.

Made a new bumper too and it fits Axial buckets perfectly. Hopefully it won't bust apart the first time it hits something!

Also decided to take it out for a quick drive and shoot, I'm super nervous driving this thing up or down anything! It's been so much work I'm afraid to roll it over. Inching closer and closer to actually having the entire thing done! Next up are the windows, light wiring and the suspension.

Man, this thing looks so good it's rediculous! I like how proportionate it looks compared to the many huge tired 6x6 builds. Again, awesome job!!

This gets my vote for best 6x6 of the year.

M1083 Test Run

Worked on the suspension this weekend and I'm pretty happy with it now. Internally limited all 6 shocks roughly 14mm and went 60wt up front and 45wt in the rears. Now it sits at a more proper ride height and stays much more flat than before. Next up is a new rear axle link mount!

That looks awesome Ty! I also got mine to articulate better with some adjustments to the rear shocks/springs...nice job on this rig!

Printed a new rear axle link truss today and got it mounted. Fixed the link angles and no more wobbly rear axle. Just need to paint it up this afternoon and reinstall!

Also found a nice place for my TF2 to hang out.

Proline hooked it up again and sent some 1.9 single stage closed cell foams to try and they are awesome! The front tires were squashing badly under the weight and the sidewalls were screaming in agony any time I tried to turn on the pavement. Problem fixed and it added some very welcome stability to the front heavy beast!

Finally got a windshield installed! Took quite a bit of test fitting and trimming, got it popped into the upper and lower channels nicely!

Drove the truck a little bit at Axialfest after having a minor setback before the concourse. PLA has a low glass temp, so some of the thinner parts warped badly while it was sitting in the sun on Thursday morning. Luckily most were removable so they got tossed and I entered it in concourse anyways. Printing new parts out of ABS now!

Also started in on the next truck, so stay tuned for that build thread.

Took Zeus out for a drive, all kinds of construction going on around Tekin HQ so there's some pretty fun terrain to run around on!

I also experimented a bit and printed a new rear flap bar and set of wheel covers up on the bed out of Bridge filament, which is really flexible! I don't have to worry about snapping these off anymore, like the poor left side of the rear bumper.

Printed new bed sides out of ABS and decided to repaint over the weekend. I think I like the tan better than the green!

Truck has a few miles on her now and I've decided to get rid of the 4-link setups in the rear and do something more scale accurate to the real thing. Long story short the long lower links on the mid axle are not exactly strong, I've broke one and pulled the rod end out twice. The new setup will be much stronger. Also diving into building an M1095 tandem axle trailer to tow behind it, more on that later! While those are in process, here's a few pics from exploring.

What suspension are you going with? I went through several variations and found only two I like and only one I have enough fab skills for

Built a little something the past couple weeks. M1095 trailer! Took an entire 1kg spool of ABS as we printed everything but the frame rails on this one. All the suspension is a custom design with ABS leaf springs, straight axles, 5 piece bead lock wheels, a functional pintle hitch, and an adjustable foot that swings up out of the way while towing. Toolboxes on the sides open up and it will have the same rear flaps as the M1083 tomorrow when I get them mounted up. Now to print 4 more pairs of the bead locks for the truck!

It will be something similar to what we did on the trailer but it will definitely be beefed up to try to handle the stress. Going for a leaf setup similar to the real thing, the long links are kinda killing the scale for me now.

This is what I did. Nice short links and it keeps the geometry correct along with the driveshafts not falling apart. Lol

I'll be doing something similar but with leaf springs. I'm going to try to do away with the coil suspension and make something more accurate for this truck.
