Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 It will. I have mine running again ill do live test tomorrow and see Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 3 Attachment(s) I mocked up a bumper out of stuff I had laying around. Going to the crawler site tomorrow and will see how it does..I think it is too thick, by just a bit.. the width seems ok and it seems a bit too tall as well.. but it will be a good test for clearance on the rocks and such |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Truck is looking good. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 thanks, I will post more pics from the crawler course tomorrow! |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 15 Attachment(s) got out on the course today, they are in the middle of re-working it so it wasnt as nice as it used to be... the 6x6 did very well, I was pleased with the performance of the truck today. I may eventually see about a different tire, but for now its ok. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Freaking awesome Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Gonna see about making a better bumper for the front this week. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 5 Attachment(s) well, my narrow XR mod beef tubes came in as well as the XR universals... everything went great until I had to shorten the axles, Amain had them already done but they were out of stock so I got the regular ones. I took off too much metal and now they are loose in the locker, but will still work until I get a different set and do a better job or Amain gets the shortened ones back in stock. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Looks good. You could also use the lockers that have the set screws to take us the slack. Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 I have had those before and the set screws always seem to back out even with lock-tite... |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 2 Attachment(s) I got the XR narrow mod done, used some bomber knuckles and chubs, I fixed up my axle botch job with a tack weld and regrind. I know its not the way to do it, but it should hold up fine until I get replacements. The turning radius before the mod was 59 inches, after the mod it is 41 inches. Nice improvement without having to spacer out the rears to match the width, my width did not change. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Very cool man. I will test mine when I get back home. This is going to be a favorite of mine. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Thanks! I am looking forward to seeing your results! |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 I have pretty much decided to swap out the wild peaks for the Iroks...they Iroks have always been a good tire for my area and they still look scale on this rig...at least to me. Now I just have to order six of them plus CI foams..thinking firm for the rears and medium for the front. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 What diff gear ratios did you run? standard 38/13? |

havent had much time to run any of my rigs lately as work and the new house being built has taken 99% of my time. I hope to remedy that as soon as we are in the new house by building my own crawler course and air strip for some new planes I will be buying"thumbsup" |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 Ok. Not much info on the multi axle build threads on the ratios. I hear you on the house. We've been in for 3 months now and it's still consuming most of my time. It's crazy and doesn't end. |
Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 I am going to try an experiment. I am going to install a front stock gear set from the SMT10 monster truck..its an open diff gear set and I think it will make a big difference in turning but wont have too much negative effect on the climbing ability... |

Re: allanon1965 builds a 6x6 yup, in the front only, still locked in both rears |
