Cross-rc Hc6

Sold some 1:1 jeep stuff this weekend and ordered a 5 ton in 1/12th scale!

This is my first multi axle, so excited. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1b40770dd5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7a5c62fb8b.jpg

Re: Cross-rc Hc6

Finally got the truck. Box isnt any bigger then a scx10.2 box.

Transmission, transfer case, and axles came pre-assembled, but i decided to open them up anyway and make sure they looked ok. All had a slight clearish white grease film on the gears. All but the front had thread locker on the threads.

Tires seem hard which may not be bad because i think this truck is going to be heavy. Stocks foams are junk, so im sure some ci foams are in the future. Just not sure if im am going to be using these tires.

Gears in the transmission and transfer case seem stout. Axle gears seem on par with stock axial stock gears.

Instructions where a bit confusing at first, there is allot of referring to the front pages for which bag your parts are in and part numbers. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...76c4aad36b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0f3d2e5cee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6f2db1994a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...aba574c3c9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...84fb656245.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2a5aa445c4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b0599ce9ac.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...282eff92ec.jpg

Watching this build....

Re: Cross-rc Hc6

I got the front and rear axle assembly completed. Everything went smoothly. The leaf springs are a combo of metal and plastic. Don't know if that is a common way to do it since this is my first leaf sprung vehicle.

Front axle has a internal spring shock. I put just a light coat of grease on the o-ring. Cycles smooth now. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9efb8d8180.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...18e9f1cd6e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3090baa566.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d69422a09.jpg

Re: Cross-rc Hc6

Had to go out for more locktite, I didnt realize how much i needed for this build.

Got going on the frame, its aluminum with a black anodize. Had 2 holes that screws wouldnt fit in without some minor filing. Other then that it is a really nice frame set.

Only problem i had was with the bump stops for the rear. They have a large section to hold them in place that i couldn't get through the holes in the frame. So i cut the large part off after much frustration and just dropped a dab of CA on the back side. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...277c53f823.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...483886b8fa.jpg

Mounted the front and rear axle assembly, everything went smoothly.

Driveshafts are all metal and seem a decent set, run time will be the true test.

Got a slider! Going to watch a movie and put the rims and tires together tonight.

Had a promodeler 470 servo i stole out of another rig that i never seem to drive, perfect. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eb7f067f74.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f1fb67d880.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f27f59e83f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b84ecb1ab4.jpg

Re: Cross-rc Hc6

Tires mounted up, didnt go to bad for stamped steel wheels. They included 2 xtra long screws to get the squeeze started, nice touch.

Hubs are really neat as well. The hubs have a removable end cap held in with a o-ring. Nice detail on the end cap as well.

I had painted the rims, well more of a first coat and realized that it was more of the Vietnam green color. Im looking for the darker green, so im going to hand paint it later. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c1cef7cde9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fe49d486ca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a3677233ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f9514cd77a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8d8fe0a522.jpg

Moved to the body, it doesn't feal like i am building a rc anymore but more like a static model. Lots of detail in the plastic parts, and lots of parts to put together.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...087c72d958.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d0ac92df56.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2c1ad7a84c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...29c6b0b30c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...48ed7d7afc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...625072dbb8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d3d4364950.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fa7b863095.jpg

Got all the parts assembled and painted, wow what a task. Been using a med super glue. It says 15-25 sec dry time. For whatever reason this plastic seems to make it stick around 2-3 seconds.

This is my first attempt at a camo paint job and i managed to get a thumbs up from the wife who is a 8 year army vet.

It is just a random pattern of smooth blobs. I did pick up a cheap airbrush from harbor freight, think it was 10$ I figured the body was to small for a rattle can camouflage paint job.

Re: Cross-rc Hc6

Build slowed a bit when school started back up, trying to get the kids back in the swing of things left little time for me.

I installed the lights and the controller that comes with the kit. It has plug-in for channel 2 and channel 4. Channel 2 applies brake lights at a neutral and reverse, and go to dimmer running lights when going forward. Channel 4 will turn the headlights on and off from the radio but leaves the running lights on.
