Ok, what I have is a scale drawing in 1/10th (also in 1/16th scale) scale of a Tucker Sno Cat that is a 4 tracked motivated off road vehicle. This will be a slow build due to everything on it will have to be scratch built because of its oddity. I does require a pair of axle housings and a transfer case of some style but that is about all as far as a regular crawler. The steering and the track mounting points will be a project in them selves. Anyhow,,,,, some pics to start with. Bob Last edited by CREEPERBOB; 10-31-2017 at 02:07 PM. Reason: Spelling |

Love the plan, however its been done and done well if you ask me. Not discouraging you, but I though you might get some inspiration. Looks like you planning on a super scale replica... I saw this thread last year and thought it was cool. https://www.rcsparks.com/forum/threa...t-build.41853/ Last edited by Ditchrat; 10-26-2017 at 08:43 AM. |

Yea I've seen that one a couple places. I plan a different setup as far as for steering as I won't be using Cs and knuckles. My plan, as the original is is to rotate each pair of tracks on a large (2 1/2" O.D.) Torrington thrust bearings on turntables under the chassis. And the fabricated tracks will resemble the originals also. Last edited by CREEPERBOB; 10-29-2017 at 05:26 AM. |

So I'm gonna need a pair of SSD D60's for housings. Not sure of width yet so don't know which version I'll need yet. And the original is leaf sprung , that sounds like it will be fun because I think I'm looking at some serious weight here. |

Yea, I'm not saying I can do it better. I'm just going to do it my way, albeit the harder way. Body, leaf spring suspension and turntable steering will all be projects in themselves individually. | |

Ok, it begins. I've got all 4 corner track motion systems coming along with 2 /1"2" O.D. thrust bearings and 20 sheets of styrene. And I have a ton of delrin to mill chassis parts from. Last edited by CREEPERBOB; 10-28-2017 at 10:38 AM. |

And for motivation and steering duties, the traditional crawler stuff .

Leaf springs,,,,,,,,, hmm. If ya notice in the drawings above of the turntable (it wont be plywood but delrin) and the track profile you'll notice the 4 ears on the turntable, these are the mounting locations of the spring hangers. And if you look right at the very top of the track you'll see the leaf spring in its location. Since this rig will be a fatty, what ya guys think would work for the leaves? Has anyone ever used the spring from a pull start lawnmower? Bob Last edited by CREEPERBOB; 10-29-2017 at 05:36 AM. |

Hmmm, , with higher proportion to the rear,, from what I can read about the steering it favors the rear just like a snowmobile would. Real one uses a single hydrsulic ram to steer both pairs of tracks .Interesting, very interesting. And the suspension platforms are only attached a single pivot in the center with clamps that keep it rotating on center with very little side to side movnent. Hmmm,, |
