AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Hello everyone ! I present you my new truck, an AMEWI TATRA 6X6 : https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/3CSgpB.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/zwRjhf.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/0Fb1dU.jpg This is a copy of the CAPO TATRA 8x8. Well, ok, it lacks an axle, there is no interior, there are no differentials, but for three times cheaper than the CAPO, we will not complain! Technically, it's beautiful material, the quality is there. I intend to modify this truck to make it realistic! See you soon ! Joël |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 That is a very odd drivetrain and suspension. It seems very simple. I like it. Nice truck! |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 I dismounted the truck to see how it was done: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/luunqI.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/5p3V05.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/WFRyzu.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/WZ3s1h.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/2AFHjp.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/AsMZNS.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/2e8Xuy.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/vqvmUA.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/2hPk3L.jpg It's beautiful mechanics and it seems to breathe reliability It's supposed to be a Tatra, but there is no logo! I found on Ebay a pin's, and that's it! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/bPTNpG.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/08quuP.jpg Bye ! Joël |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Thank you for showing the disassembled photos! That's a simple and clever drive train. Very nice truck. |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 That drive train is crazy. Just like the real thing. Are the wheels staggered on each side as it looks like the axles are at the center of the beam? |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 The steering setup is also very interesting. Do you have any better pics of it? |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Yeah thanks for showing us the guts. One thing that looks odd to me is the camber but maybe I'm imagining it, it just looks like it has a lot of positive camber. Does that go away once its on the ground? |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 I don't see suspension links. Is there anything locating the axles other than the shocks? This is indeed a curious vehicle. Quote:

Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Hello ! To try to answer all your questions: A picture of the steering setup: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/g2c4cN.jpg Pictures of the transmission, identical to that of the real truck: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/fOwgtq.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/stLEmM.jpg Indeed the axles revolve around the central tube, and are guided by bearings: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/LMnaXK.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/mNmwiT.jpg And pictures of the suspensions, which they do not look like those of the real truck, which is equipped with air cushions: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/zGJGC7.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/Z5P5lp.jpg And finally a little video to understand how it all works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAXoiSQUCJc Bye ! |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Cool truck, so its similar to a oversize pinzgauer 6x6 but with the engine in the middle vs the pinz rear engine. Did you build the chassi, you say its similar to capo? |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 The truck is delivered fully assembled, there is just the windows, mirrors and the tarp of the bucket to mount. But I preferred to disassemble everything to control, and especially to see how it was done! So after disassembly, reassembly: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/lerdPM.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/aYVb6b.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/euQOBm.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/eg9zI2.jpg I made a big radio board placed between the frame rails in the back, so I have room for the radio installation! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/L7JBRD.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/yVAdkb.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/LmV5k9.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/gsxotT.jpg Bye ! Joël |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Now that's a cool truck! Thanks for sharing Joël. Looking forward to seeing what else you do to it. |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 The truck made its first laps. I'm not satisfied, it rolls very slowly, it's noisy, the speeds go wrong. it would require some adjustments, and a little break-in, but the false engine does not please me either ... Fortunately I have it in stock: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/Orlqvc.jpg A 3 speeds gearbox, with aluminium cover. I restart the original transmission, makes media, and that's it ! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/iWo1WQ.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/dMQow8.jpg I'm going to dress the Tamiya gearbox so that it looks like the real engine of the Tatra https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/Okp4tO.png https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/EDk6MU.jpg so I start with the exhaust manifolds of the original engine: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/NtOARU.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/M1sOyd.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/ZwxTPj.jpg The sequel soon! Bye! Joel |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Hello ! As I intend to reproduce the real engine, and I also want to put a spare wheel, exhaust ... behind the cab, I have a problem: the tray is too long! So I take out my saw, and ... https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/GhJszN.jpg I shortened the bucket of the value of a sidewall, so I have room behind the cab: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/O5J4bT.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/9uObsp.jpg Then I modify the attachment system of the bucket. Originally it is screwed on the chassis, which is not practical to change the battery that is below, even if there is a hatch provided: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/PKdjy4.jpg So I replaced the 4 screws by 4 bumpers, and now the grab holds with body clips, which is easier to remove it! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/1wCdxg.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/K9Qq7w.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/rPbKoP.jpg Next step, the layout of the cabin. Bye ! Joël |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 I am now attacking the cockpit. While looking for photos of the interior of the real Tatra, I came across the photos of a scale 1:25 hyper detailed, with more than 1200 pieces. So I bought this model (about $ 20) as a model. Particularity, it is paper! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/lHMTwB.jpg Just take the ribs on the paper model, multiply by 2.5, and we get the same parts at 1 / 10th! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/eR72yy.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/p2MXkt.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/x7QR1G.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/bnKS8E.jpg The floors fit under the cab, and are screwed with the original holes: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/RyL50j.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/aT0oLS.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/e5IFyU.jpg Then I continue with the dashboard: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/0csmL8.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/NO5gdu.jpg I had to back a little engine to set up the interior. So I redid supports and shortened the drive shaft: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/pEwwLT.jpg The sequel soon! Bye ! Joël |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Thank you for the likes! I have almost finished the dashboard, missing some buttons: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/BmsDMZ.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/gTk9G6.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/0yry0Z.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/4GlcHN.jpg |
Re: AMEWI TATRA 6x6 Very cool. That steering is concerning. I hope it works well. |
