CrossRC HC6 Somewhere last year I received my first multi axle kit, the CrossRC HC6. Really liked the BC8 Mammoth, but that is just too expensive for me  And the HC6 was next on the list "thumbsup" Due to time and other priorities it took some time to get it anywhere near finished, now working on the details. The box! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9c76403e_b.jpg 2-speed gearbox: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...36b30c34_b.jpg Nice and heavy: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...029afb75_b.jpg Front axle: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...faaaa7c9_b.jpg Rear axles: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...25b9bd2e_b.jpg Mounted on the chassis: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c0887f35_b.jpg Had a lot of issues with the bump stops for the rear axles, broke 2 while mounting, which have been replaced by CrossRC. The new ones were a lot softer and easier to mount than the ones provided in the kit. Working on the wiring: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6901491b_c.jpg Wiring finished: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...67b8f9ce_c.jpg Started on the bodywork: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...766476d6_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8b9fb2b9_b.jpg Finished bed and accesories: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c628555e_c.jpg Testfit and inspection: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a689ce62_c.jpg And it's current state: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3841f738_c.jpg The mirrors are mounted in rubber mounts from the same materials as the rear bump stops. I had the same issues with those, the kit provided ones were pretty hard and tore easily. Got replacements which are a lot softer and easier to mount. The interior still needs to be finished before mounting. Working on that at the moment. Will be adding a working winch, sound module and the khaki tarp, still deciding on what to add for details in the bed, seems a bit empty now. And the sound module probably needs to go in the bed, so I need crap to hide it  I am also not sure yet about the tires, they seem pretty hard, even for a truck this heavy. |
Re: CrossRC HC6 I’ve got a kit waiting to be built, looking forward to the “model’ part of the kit now. |
Re: CrossRC HC6 Done the basic interior, it is now finished according to the manual. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4f55c08a_b.jpg First some test runs and then deciding on what else I want to do. Tyres, accessoires etc. |
Re: CrossRC HC6 Very nice, love these trucks. The body details are outstanding! |
Re: CrossRC HC6 Yeah, it's my first hardbody truck, and I was amazed by the amount of detail that goes into these things. But also a bit overwhelmed by the amount of work necessary to build one, especially when you don't have a lot of spare time to build. Paint looks a bit rough, but I think it suits the truck much better than a nice and shiny "as new" paintjob. Got the tip to look into some weathering, but not sure yet, I don't want to destroy the paintjob :ror: |
Re: CrossRC HC6 didn't like the all-red bodywork, so did some black painting on the grille. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...53126c59_b.jpg Also giving it a sound module ESS One+ https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...252c8a3c_b.jpg Now it is waiting for a new RX and some servo extension wires for the sound module |
Re: CrossRC HC6 This thing looks awesome! I had never even heard of Cross RC until today. How is the quality of this truck? Does it seem like something that would stand up to some actually crawling, or is it mostly just a "for looks" truck? |
Re: CrossRC HC6 So far it works fine. All metal axles and gearbox. Runs a bit above walking speed in high gear with the supplied 45t motor and around half of that in low gear. But it is more of a scaler type vehicle as opposed to the trail rigs from brands like Axial, Traxxas, Element. |

Re: CrossRC HC6 Some pics of the HC6 in action. It is a lot more capable than I thought. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...347ac19a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a987b991_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a3e7fa3a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...77d8828a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b23cca67_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e6614bae_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5ccc5483_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...88dcd774_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f9837805_b.jpg |
