Well not quite yet!

Tamiya semi trailer build. This is the closest Tamiya has to a current semi trailer, so we picked up the two axle version.

Started by researching colors for the client’s artwork, He is supplying a full color vinyl wrap so I just have to paint, paint, paint, then assemble.
So to keep things quality, a full ball bearing set was grabbed, and a set of alloy wheels for the bling.

Now as this is a functional trailer, it is heavy as it’s primarily aluminum. That always makes painting awful, so good clean and degrease, then self etching primer for the box rails and uprights. Spring hangers and a few other’s also got this. Plastic parts were removed and trimmed, then a primer/sealer was applied for uniform base color. The aluminum parts will be sprayed with that primer tomorrow once dry.

Now I can rest and watch paint cure!

I’ve never spent more time painting than assembling, until this one. Clear has cured, screws got turned.

Now I will wire the lights, drop the floor in, then build the front bulkhead, and rear doors. My logos need a minor trim before install, as they are a thicker vinyl, supplied by my client, it will work fine! So tomorrow’s task is get them out in the sun to soften and flatten for install.

Well The client is a happy man, as is the builder. Stick a fork in this puppy, she’s done and finished.
