I've got a few updates on this build. I decided to square up and redo the deck on the flatbed. I used a .019 thick aluminum sheet and some popsicle sticks and I used instant coffee and water for the stain. And I was thinking that the side of the bed was lookin a bit naked so I made some side rails. I also threw this in. It's been one of the best sevos I've used and for the price I can't find any better. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk Last edited by W1ck3d0n3; 04-21-2022 at 07:36 PM. |

I made some light buckets for the rear lights but they were a little big so I made a rear bumper to mount them to, I also added some chains to the headache rack. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |

I picked up a rc4wd welder at Amain and I didn't like how they had the welding torch and ground hooked to the welder, so I added my own wires for the torch, ground, and plug, then I used the tube that came with it and hooked it up to a argon tank I made from a toy set I picked up at one of my local Dollar Generals, the made a wood welder rack to mount in the back of the 6x6. I picked up a new body the other day, I'm gittin a bit burned out on the NuKizer body, so I'm goin with a 82 GMC K10 cab, the bed will eventually become a box trailer. I'm goin to do a factory Blue and White paint job on the cab and maybe the bed. The cab and the flatbed will be mounted to the chassis separately so I need to make some body mounts for both. I got the csb mounts welded on the chassis, as well as the bed. I cut and relocated the stack on to the bed and I think they look better there instead of off the side of the cab. For the cab mounts I used, 3/16in (4.76mm) square bar and a some thin sheet metal that I had layin around. The bed mount is 1/2in (12.7mm) square wood dowl held to the bottom of the bed with E6000 epoxy and bolted to the chassis. I ran the bumper supports through the body to help hold the front of the body. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |

Body is painted, hood is made to open. I used some small hinges for a doll house door for the hood. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |

I added some 1/4in (6.35mm) lead wire to the front rims to add some weight to the front end because most of the weight is in the back end because of the flatbed. I pounded the lead rod flat so I could do 2 wraps then used a little hot snot (hot glue) to hold the lead then wrapped some electrical tape to secure it. Always wear rubber gloves when working with lead because it can absorb through your skin and possibly give you lead poisoning. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |

This is great, I really like the use of wood and scale detail on flatbeds. The rig has evolved beautifully. Look forward to more, it’s a fun thread |

Big update. I got all the wireing done for the lights ran, I also made a grill and light buckets out of styrene. On the shake down run I noticed that the motor struggled on some obstacles because of the waight of the truck so I swapped in a 55t with a 20 tooth pinion so that should add the Torque that it needs. So I redid the steering mount, also made a Electronics plate, had to redo the steering because of the new steering servo mount, also my front rims we're cutting grooves in my steering arms because of the screws on the inside of the beadlock Ring. So I put the stock hg-p601 rims back on temporarily, but not going to lie it actually looks pretty good with these on there.
