Could this mean more driveshafts are being added? JK, nice build man.
With how many driveshafts you've got in there already though, I can't but think about the spagettification that might occur if one of those driveshafts were to fail. Although I don't have any experience with driveshaft failure, maybe I'm just overthinking the potential for damage.

Haha Na I think 5 is the limit… unless I were to go 8x8 which I have no plan for btw!
Those wb8-hd driveshafts are pretty solid. I’ve put a lot of power and torque to them in my opinion and I’ve yet to have one fail. That’s in over 10-14 different rigs with everything from brushed to brushless power plants portals non-portals you name it.
Plus being able to buy take offs for about $30 helps too lol

Maybe I didn't skim close enough, but where and how much gear reduction are you getting? I can't really see what you've got going on with that forward motor mount and transmission(?)...

I'm tossing around a 6x6 idea, and a pass through axle wouldn't be an option. Also, I'd like to use the vanquish 3 gear trans, still. I'm trying to wrap my head around your setup, so I can steal some aspects of it... haha.

So I’m running ar45 portals. So any gear reduction is going on out there. I’m running 24% overdrive in the front axle at the portal and everything else is stock gearing.

It’s quite the mess in pictures but In person I promise it makes more sense.
I’m running the intheworks forward motor mount, 56t spur, 9t pinion, to a cross transfer case. That transfer case powers the front and middle axles and then another transfer case which powers the rear axle.

You won’t be able to achieve a 6x6 without a pass-thru without at least the mofo rc dual output transmission case and some other parts.. I have one laying around.. well 2 if you want PM me and we can talk about that.

I ran that trans with ar44’s no pass-thru then upgraded to the ar45p’s.
Really though if anyone has any questions feel free to drop me a PM

Well she’s back again.. in it’s idk 3rd or 4th form.
Ar45p’s still, a bit of brass, 36% overdrive. Stock 10.3 links up front brass for the rear axle for now. Mofo dual output trans, reversing carrier.
Trx6 shocks, different spring rates. Probably stick to the micro x, 2850 slate and Holmes v3 servo.
Got this cab from a buddy, if I can figure out how to mount it. Proline flat iron xl’s.
Waiting on a few pieces but should be able to have it running next week.

Thanks man! I was losing interest in my other rigs and I loved this thing from the start so I’m hoping it perks me back up a bit

I sure do love this thing… not much else I want to do besides a legit set of links one of these days. Surprisingly everything worked out well with only the slipper clutch nut coming loose once.

Really cool build !

I'm looking to build a new chassis for my 6x6 JK, I was almost set on getting a TRX6 but now I'm back to square one looking at axial axles to put under a gspeed chassis

Do you think the portals are worth the extra cash over the AR44s on a setup like this ?

It’s hard to say, the ar44’s tackled a lot of lines even some really difficult ones. The ar45 portals tackled some really difficult lines the 44’s couldn’t but then couldn’t make some lines the 44’s did. All in all, I’m happy with the portals. At one point I had dravtechs and all that but I’m really happy where it is with the trx6 shocks. Changed up springs a bit and 70wt oil.
Looking forward to what you come up with

This poor badass rig has just been sitting on the shelf. Well I decided to fmm swap it again… yes that means it has 5 driveshafts again. At the moment it will have a hobbywing 1080 and Holmes crawlmaster sport 10t 550. Got the transfer cases mounted, driveshafts trimmed and everything spinning the correct way. Not sure I’ll be able to run it with all this rain but it definitely keeps me busy.

This is fantastic thread Fricker. Love seeing all the fun you are having with your 6er. Every time I peruse it I come away with more info and a desire to build one up.

Hey thanks smog, I finally got the Capra axle swap complete. Ran into a couple snags but I think I got them all worked out. I’ve got an esc in the mail to get it up and running.
I know there’s a thing as too much flex… which I’d say this fits that category but at the same time why not haha I can’t wait to get out and run this thing.

Got the hardcore links installed, was able to dig through my spares to build some links for the rear axle. Dropped the overdrive from 36% to about 11%
The 550 can motor was causing interferences so I installed a 2850kv slate and moved the shocks down a position to gain some ride height and provide the clearance I needed.

This thing is pretty wild looking. Real interested to see how it is compared to ar44’s and ar45p’s

Right on man hope this build helps.
I actually sold this right last night… smh. I’ve got some big plans for other builds. But who knows I’ll probably build another one down the road

Are the front standard 12.3 links ? I'm guessing the rear are 75 and 84mm ? Looks awesome!!
