| Robotboy's GSpeed 6X6 Mofo
I've been thinking of modernizing my 6X6 with some of the nice parts being offered lately. I was inspired by a few builds on here, Fricker08's & Savageasflux's, to name a couple. So I started gathering parts. After getting the bulk of it together I've decided to build a new and leave the Bio Unit as is. It has it's nostalgic value and it works. Still undecided on the body, ideas are rollin, but mechanically I'm set. The goods I'm rolling with: GSpeed 6x6 CF Rails, laydown servo mount, elect. trays & spacers, TGH panhard mount, Vader skid, Bowhouse ar45 panhard mount, AR45's with china brass goodies, SSD OD front diff gears, TRX6 shocks and Mofo RC Big Boy trans & divorce kit. I'm still pondering the power plant. I have a Brood Pathfinder 5 Slot 13T & HW 1080 to test with and go from there. The beginnings ...... |

LCG 6X6? Unstoppable! This is neat. How did you manage to procure an odd number of AR45's? |

Very nice man, solid parts list! I’m jealous of the ar45p’s That’s my next big change. Trying to get lucky on buying a take off set on eBay and then I have some parts laying around so I can build another rear fairly cheap Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

wanted OD up front so I had to get those gears anyway. So the og gears went in the back and had to piece out the rest. Not cheap but I was tired of waiting for some to pop up. Quote:
I just knew it had to have portals and seeing that mofo trans is the gravy. I'm hoping it works as well as I think it will.

Some progress made. I think I'm done with the tedious task of links. Used a mix of some SCX10.3, Enduro, a couple others and a wide variety of rod ends. Should be just about right. Also limited the shocks a bit. Here's where I be now... |

Ran into a couple snafoos today. The first is the one output shaft on the Mofo trans. The hole for the driveshaft through-pin is off center (on both ends) which makes it impossible to screw it in. I sent an email to them, hopefully they take care of me with a replacement. In the meantime I used a long set screws so I could move along. Pic of the shaft... Second problem was my rear axle going the wrong direction. With the AR45's you can't just flip the diff gear. What to do...ugh! Aaaah, dug through the parts bin and found a metal CrossRC transfer case. Also found a brace the right width for the chassis. A few minutes later and I was back in business. The transfer case is stronger than the Mofo center carrier and no wobble. So here she is as of now... |

Yea I ran into the same deal, he’s very vague on some of the information. What’s the deal with the pin again? Like you can’t get a driveshaft to bolt to it? I swapped to an ar44 high pinion rear housing, he has the parts file for a reversing carrier, but again I had to email him for the info on what to put in.. twice.. before I got a response. He also wanted $60 to print me a case that he has the file out for free. Sorry getting off track. It’s a great idea for the setup but I feel it leaves a lot to be desired. I had to do quite a bit of shimming on mine and the bearing pockets are still loose but shimming helped. Glad you’re getting it together, unfortunately these rigs don’t come with a manual so it’s a lot of trial and error Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

is off center. I was already a bit worried with rear carrier. It was super wobbly. When I first got it and looked at it I was like whoa...no. Took it apart and shimmed it the best I could but it still had tons of wobble. So in the long run I know this transfer case will be much better. I remember it being super cheap. And it's the perfect size. Bought it for a project that changed direction. Glad now.

This build is going to be a beast! Nice list of parts! Good start so far! Nice use of the CrossRC t-case to solve the problem. Subscribed and following to see more! |

Man I ran mine in the apartment last night, I’m getting some serious binding. I’m going to blow it apart tonight and flip the transmission to get my driveline angles back. How’s your build coming? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Progress has been slow. Lots of little time consuming things. I got a hold of MofoRC and they sent me out a new gear/shaft for the trans. Kudos to them taking care of me so fast. So trans is back together. Decided to go with some real power. It's gonna need it. HH Trailmaster Pro 2200kv. I installed it and it was a hair longer than my brood. Ended up rubbing against the rodend for the middle upper link. So had to make up some shorter links. I moved the front axle forward about a quarter inch. So I had to make up new links for that as well. Tiny little things that eat up time Made up a small battery tray up front. It's just big enough to hold my 3S shorty packs. Got my front body mount made up and going to hinge it at the rear. Decided on wheels and tires and got em all together. RC4WD M/T Baja Pro X's. Picked up some china beadlocks that had the look I wanted. Swapped out all the silver hardware for black and added LURC acorns in the center. I'm lovin the look. Been working on the body off and on. It's been interesting, to say the least. More on that soon. Still piecing it together. |

So I went to install the electronics and found out my Mamba MicroX didn't come with the sensor harness. The others I've gotten have all come with. So it will be a few days before actual testing and tuning can take place. I wanted to go with some kind of tractor truck cab and go from there. But I couldn't find one I liked for a reasonable price. So in the meantime I give you something completely different... |

I really like your "something completely different"! That looks awesome! It fits the chassis so good! Love how you made that cage work! Looks like it has always belonged there! Great color too! It fits the look well! |
