Default Nebraska Crawling Club

Colder then hell out side, seems like more people are out there buying and building crawlers, we have a hobby store that is will to support our addiction, lets get a club started.

I think to start out we need

1. A name

2. A list of our members

3.To figure out a main contact that can help organize the schedule with all the members, HobbyTown for radio time, and to find other crawling venues in which we might participate.

4. For everyone to start listing locations for us to get together at and crawl at. I have a few I like and they will be listed in a different thread.

We tried this a couple years ago but the response was a little lacking. I think with the release of the Wheelie King and the Axial kits we should get a better response. I am really fired up about getting out there and crawling, I hope you guys from around here will sign up.

I'm in! I've wanted to do something like this since the middle of last year.

1. Name. Flatland R/C Crawlers Club. Flatland Scale Trail Runners. Rockless Crawlers Association.

2. Chris Peterson A.K.A. JavelinSST390

3. If no one else will do it, I will. But I might be starting a new job soon (WOOHOO! Money!) so I don't know how my hours are going to be from now on, that's why I said IF NO ONE ELSE will do it...

4. I suggest we check outsome of the state parks this summer. I know Mahoney has lots of hiking/backpacking/ mountain bike trails, and is right smack between Lincoln, Omaha, and where I live. And if you've never been to mahoney, OH MY GOD!!! it's HUGE and very very nice. Plus there's lost of stuff for the wife and kids to go do if they get bored, and we could have a picnic/grillfest during the fun.

Then there's Branched Oak Lake, out by Lincoln, which has a HUGE white-rock dam on one side of the lake. So does Czechland lake, but that's way WAY out in the sticks.

Plus there's a neat spot out here in Wahoo called Cook's park. The trail starts at the edge of the park and runs back into the woods (bring hedge clippers, it gets pretty overgrown 'cause no one really goes back there anymore.) If you go off the main trail there's a really cool drainage ditch that runs for miles, and is (usually) pretty dry during the summer.

Imagine a dry creek bed. That's basically what it is.

(except for a couple spots that never dry out... water gets kinda nasty though. Bring bug repellant)

Back when i was a kid people used to go ride dirt-bikes back in there all the time. It's a pretty cool area.

There aren't any rocks, but there's lots of challenging dirt terrain, fallen trees, water crossings, log crossings, and a few old cars thrown in for good measure. There are also a few spots where they've dumped a bunch of concrete and stuff back there, but most of it is too big for a 2.2. Bring your supers!

I'm really stoked to get a club going.

One thing I think we should def. do is make up a flyer to go up at Hobbytown announcing this. I think the response could be huge!

Meadowlark SRA is a flood control area near Valparaiso and it has super trails in the woods. It is very primitive and remote with very little parking but it is awsome for trail running. Pawnee SRA is also near Branched Oak. czechland isn't that far. I might be able to get Hobbytown in Eastpark to have info for this of some kind.

I like Flatland R/C Crawling Association

Okay guys, I am talked to Harley0706 and we are getting ready to send in the club registration to RCC to get us on the big list. This is what is required for us to be formal club in the eyes of RCC....

Before requesting that your club be added to the list, please review the RCC rules for club listing:

1. All club listing requests will be reviewed by all moderators.
Alright, review away

2. The club must have put on at least 6 events (comp or get together) that where listed here on RCC. You must include the links to 6 or more events when you pm me.
I think we have that covered....
Nebraska Gtg 10/28
Cunningham Lake, Omaha, NE
Omaha GTG, 9/16/06
Omaha GTG, 7/9/06
Nebaska GTG, Omaha 4-22-06
Nebaska, Iowa crawlers #2 1/22/06
NE/IA GTG (pics)

Plus, three of us have traveled to comps outside our state/normal crawling area to compete against other clubs or groups.

3. The club must have a member or be vouched for by a member with over 200 posts and that has been a member for over 6 months. Include this members screen name in your pm.

RD400, Thaclodking, snider1975,
JavelinSST390, Harley0706

4. A list of members must be included with the request.

See above plus the guys in the Nebraska regional section.

5. Most importantly, RCC staff must be familiar with the group. That means your on RCC frequently and have posted enough events and pictures/results afterwards that we are familiar with your group.

I think we have this one covered as well.

This is the info I am going to E-mail to the RCC officials. I Am getting really excited to get this thing off the ground again. As far as the name, snider1975, thaclodking and myself started using Nebraska Scale Crawlers (NSCA) back in '06. I am kind of partial to that name, easy to remember and kind of a catchy acronym.

I'm gonna have to vote no, I've never heard of any of you clowns

On a serious note, looks like you have your bases covered well. I sure don't see any issues/reasons that would keep you from getting voted in.
You have my vote

Steve01646, the "scale" in NSCA just denotes we do scaled down crawling. We actually have about equal numbers of comp and scale guys. I think we should have a little meeting on the second weekend in March for everyone to get together and meet. Also, we can try and lay out a plan for this springs GTG's and comps. Sound good?

I'm with theclodking, I think we need to build us a fort.

Well if the meeting date gets moved let me know, but right now I am going to be out of town on the 15 through the 20 for spring break.
