Default Do you guys know of any place that's hiring?

I've looked and looked and looked... keep checking the papers, etc... and have had no luck at all. I've been trying to get a job for the last year and a half... no luck.

Most places I go to take one look at me and won't even give me an application... :-(

And out of 100's of applications I've filled out I've only ever gotten 4 interviews and then they never call back, and won't talk to me when I call them.

Do I just look like that much of a fawkhead?

I'm trying to get back into either being an auto tech or auto body man. (those are what I've got the most experience at, 10 years total between the two)

But I've also got 4 years of Autocad experience, Forklift experience, skidloader experience, bricklayer and drywall experience... Welding experience, both Mig and Stick.

And there's nothing I've ever tried to do that I couldn't do fairly well.

Any ideas guys? I'm desperate. really, really, REALLY desperate.

If it'll pay $10 an hour or more I'll take it. I don't care if it's being a porta-pot honey dipper.

I'm in Atlanta right now, but I'll check with a couple I know when I get back and see if they've got any openings . . .

Good luck!

Default jobs

the trucking indistry is going to be 12000 drivers short by the year 2012,or so thay say,I am involved with trucking I own my own truck and haul grain, but I used to have 6 semis and two pickups as over the road for about 7 years, then I got smart and redused to 1.drivers are easy to find if thay want to work.the same holds true for the farming industry, you may want to try some coopsnow it is coming into thair peak time for spaying,we also farm 1200 acres.Dispite what we are being told we are on the verg of a recesion, unimployment is up all over the US so dont feel alone just all of those things you can do are good assets if thay are in demand, dont forget cdls are easy to get and thay are a good back up plan, you can easaly make 800 to 1200 a month if you work hard and can handle not seing your family till the week end ,that was the main reason I went down to one truck.Sorry for the novel I just wrote hope it helps you out ,I do have other ideas if you want to hear them,I to am laid of right now from my factory job in shenandoa at eatons.

How long ago was your AutoCAD expierence? IF it is fairly recent then the following may be helpful.

Engineering is picking back up in Omaha and most drafting techs start out around $17/hr. I am a civil engineer and I know that the market for engineers has been a little slow but drafting techs are usually still needed many places. Engineering work is picking back up anyway though.

Just do a search for Omaha engineering companies and see what positions are open, you would most likely be looking for a T1 (techician level 1).

That's what I made at Grand Island Express. Home every weekend. That only lasted three months, now I drive a mobile concrete mixer in Lincoln making $600 to $700 gross a WEEK and home EVERY NIGHT.

Hey JavelinSST390, find anything yet? I'll keep my ears open.
