http://www.usrcca.com/rules/2010_USR...s_01-20-09.pdf Just was over there again today and noticed the MAX point change per course ( i dont remember seeing such a change a month ago) 40 point max. Seems super SUPER tight on points, on 10 gate course, 20 gate markers hit 4 your done, wow WOW. Progress 1.10 Once a driver has pointed out, no further Progress Points will be awarded. trying to move as many people through as you can in a hurry I would recommend that we think about using the 20 point per gate max Option to repostion and move on, a mandatory option Gate marker penalty, touch only. straddle tire outside gate and Axle straddles the gate. Just a few things i seen over there .

The 40 point rule has always been in there. As stated in the rules though, the rules can be amended for use at local events. That is a rule that is not closely followed down here in KC either.

40 though ? i thought it was more to start, guess i can look at my copy of last yrs, lol. long day, late, etc... lol wouldnt a ratio or percent to the number of total gates be easier. (3-10) gates is huge but only 40 pt max for all, i know those are setup for comp rules. the gate marker question came up, just due to going through a gate at an angle in which tires are on the ground but breaking the vertical plane of the gate, no penalty. Floating over is the penalty. Last edited by jlast; 01-28-2010 at 12:23 AM.

40 has always been the number. It actually helps keep the competition closer when people don't complete the courses. If you get 8 progresses before you DNF than you are at a 24. If it was a 60 point P.O. value than you would be at a 44 and would have a much harder time coming back from a bad course. It is definitely give and take between getting to run longer and keeping competition tighter. As for gate penalties. 4 tires must go through clean to not get a penalty. If you car a tire over the gate, 10 points. Touch a gate, 10 points. No matter what all you have to do is ask, did 4 tires go through the gate area without touching or hanging over the gate?

Moving is 10 pt chunks on a 40 pt total seems unrealistc setup to play who gets the farthest, regardless of penalties cause they dont count against you really ( only count progress) po/dnf/timed out. OR who can complete the course with the least amount of penalties. gate queston, was actually from 2 comps before we were messing around talking about it. As defined no matter how much tire is leaning over the gate as long as its on the ground not touching the gate it is a clean progress. Floating over is the penalty.

big comps are 40 Pt's and you would really be surprised on how far you can go...there are some hard courses set up in Omaha...makes for good driving skills when you do go to a big comp
