Default Nebraska First Thaw GTG/trail run

I would like to plan a GTG/trail run sometime as soon as all the snow melts. I finally have my Rig in a shape that I am not embarassed to let others see.

I was hoping for something right around the Lincoln / Omaha / Fremont / Wahoo area.

Not sure where to have it, though, if anyone has any ideas for cool spots I'm open to suggestions. The Hobbytown course is cool, but they're talking about re-doing it so I'm not even sure if it's there anymore. Besides, it's a little, well, small.

I know of a neat spot in Wahoo but it will be a LONG time before it dries up enough to run through it.

Now, I know it could be a VERY long time before the snow melts, that's why I'm posting this now, to keep re-cycling it to get as many guys as we can to come, and all agree on a date/time so everyone can participate.

I'm really looking to try and strengthen the flatland crawler scene here.

I'm in. I know of some spots for trail running that are pretty good but most involve water. I will get out and get some pics to post up for everyone to see;)

Water's no problem. I've got everything important and expensive encased in plastic bags. I've been running non-stop in the snow (two, three packs a day, running for as long as I can at a time until I get too cold to move my trigger and steering fingers) and no problems so far.

Although I have yet to dunk it, that might give issue, but if it's only for a second or two it should be fine.

I really like the course out at HT. All I've got is a scaler and it's perfect for it. Enough to give a challenge but not completely impassable. (or impossible )

But I've heard that they're planning on moving it over onto the hill by the new track. that's cool, but I hope that it doesn;t make it much harder than it already is. The gremmie would be pretty much useless on it then. (she's really top heavy with the hardbody.)

How much did all that rock cost, or do you even know? I know you were involved in building it originally.

I've got plenty of room out here in Colon for something like that. I was thinking of doing something like that, but on a slightly smaller scale. And I really like the traction the white rock offers.

Sorry for all the stupid questions.

We got the rock from a quarry over in Cresent IA, with the dump truck I think it was about $250.00 for 15 and a half tons. and ya, I was the one who set it up and did all the leg work. I heard they might move it also, but it is a little frosty to think about moving dirt and rocks right now.

Get a hold of me tonight or tomorrow and maybe we can try to work out some details on locations we know about.

0ohhhhhh... it's warmin' up! I know they're talking some light snow and colder temps the rest of this week, but if this trend keeps up we should be out on the rocks by sometime in the week or two.

Anybody been to Hobbytown this week? Is the snow melting off the rocks or is it all one big drift?

We need to get some organization to this here. Gerame, give me a call!

Okay guys, the high temp for 2/20/08 looks like it is going to be a sticky 6 degrees. Yup, this weather should be giving all you guys plenty of build time. My goal is to have our first GTG around the March 15th. I think a good trail run up a Dodge Park, Elmwood Park, or somewhere similar would be a good starting point.

Lets post who might be able to make it and if there are any spots you guys know about that I have not found.

We have 5 people so far, I would say we have enough to start a club.

New thread to come on that subject, but for any of you guys that don't already have it, PM me and we can exchange contact info.

as far as I know. Keep watching the Nebraska forum as the date gets closer and we learn for sure what the weather's gonna do for a final date/time/location

(Like anybody around here ever KNOWS what the weather's gonna do...)

Perfect timing for me to get back to this site! I'm in for next weekend. Where you all wanting to meet? I even have my own crawler this time rather than just a scale rig.

As for future get togethers, I'm not sure if any of you are into 1:1 scale off-roading but the club I'm in here in Lincoln has several people who have the nylint crawlers. This club along with the just jeeps of omaha club have quite a few with nylint crawlers. Anyway, they have events at least once a month. Several times during the year they go up to Tuttle Creek, KS and it's got awesome spots for full scale and rc crawling.
