Default Las Vegas Scale Crawling Adventure Series #1, 12-10-11

Hey guy's I'll start off by introducing myself I'm Alex. Some of you already know me, some still don't. Anthony and I have been brain storming and what not to think of a name for this club we are trying to get together and we have finally decided.

Las Vegas Scale Crawling, or LVSC for short.

We are holding our first ever official meet and greet/crawl on December 10th. Its three weeks out, We are trying to give everybody enough Heads up so they can make it out to join us. We will be taking tons of pictures and Antony has a professional Videographer lined up if we want so all we have to do is drive and have fun.

Tho this is a Scale club and will be scale oriented I'm not trying to block anybody out or close any doors, If you have a RC and are in Vegas you are more than welcome to come join us for a fun trip on the rocks, and meet some new people who share the same hobby. Networking is always a good thing.

Location will be calico basin click on the link for google maps of it. Calico Basin Crawl Spot

Post up if you have any questions or comments, dont be shy. Like I said everybody is welcome to come out and play.

Also in my SIG is a link to Pictures from our last two outings, Some pics of Anthony's XJ and K5, Josh's Toyota, Nolen's Ford, a few of Chris' crawler and my XJ

Thank you
Alex

Calico basin right west of Red Rock Casino is a great spot too. We could meet at the parking lot and follow me up there.

you got that right... NOT INVITED!

even tho a honcho is a scale rig, full frame rails and what not.... just because its sitting on the 1:10th of 22" wheels it cant come.

Totally kidding BTW

I mean they are scale if it looks scale. its a matter of opinion. in my personal opinion 1.5 and 1.7 are the most scale. because they are 1/10 of a 15" or 17" wheel respectively. 2.2 is a 22" wheel now ask anyone who wheels in the 1:1 world what size wheel they run and you will almost never get 22" as a response, on my 1:1 i have a 15" wheel. the idea being getting the most rubber under the truck with the smallest wheel so that the tire can flex and conform to the terrain more. If it were up to me my XJ would have 1.5 on it. I had 1.5s but i didn't like the RC4WD steelies i had i couldn't keep a bead so i sold them and wanted 1.5s but got 1.9 because i found a good deal. I plan on going back to a 1.5 next time i rebuild this rig.

so to sum it up in my opinion they arent scale unless your building a mall crawler. but they are scale as long as they are proportionate to the rig they are on your CR01 is a big rig and they look at home on it, but put them on my or anthony's xj and they will look dumb

One of the biggest differences between 1.9 and 2.2 is advantage. I think when it comes to ledges or obstacles a 2.2 has a clear advantage of rolling over them. But for our group I agree with if it looks like it belongs or is proportionate, 2.2s are ok.

Thanks josh for the bump on scale4x4. As far as Friday I'm free all day so it's up to you and Anthony.

BTW I'm gonna be chopping into my xj tonight starting some body mods. So it may be a lil different on Friday lol

Do any of you guys want a tow strap? I'm making one for Anthony. I make them out of Olive colored parachute cord. they are strong, strong enough to tie two of my trucks together and have a good old fashion red neck pull off.
I was thinking of making a few and selling them at the meet to get some funds into the club for gate markers and stuff like that.. Also Im working on getting little LVSC stickers to put on our rigs. let me know if your interested, i was thinking making them to go across the top of the windshield

Default Lone Mtn, Today

hiya! I was wondering if you guys were still headed to Lone Mtn today? I am pretty new to crawling (not to RCs), I been to Lone Mtn b4, the place is fun, except when your rig starts rolling down the hill . I got the day off and was planning to head out there sometime today. Just thought it might be fun to chill with some other people.
