ok, bear with me. Im new to changing gears and shit...I currently have the stock 87t spur gear /and a 14t pinion gear and a 27t motor, its still not as fast as i would like, if i change the spur gear to a 80 like on the wraith do i need to change that pinon grear as well?
I was using a 2cell, it will make a big difference changing to a 3cell!!?

Holy crap are you wanting to race a slash..? You dont have to change pinion gear but if you do you will see more speed out of it.

its pretty easy to get more speed with just changing the pinion...

basically for every tooth higher pinion you go youll get 2mph faster top speed but that comes as less acceleration....now if you find a speed you like by just changing pinion size but now your motor gets too hot then is when you need to worry about changing the spur gear((if not too hot then your good))

but say your 87t spur and you get the speed you like with a 18t pinion..if motor cool your good..if hot then you need to change the spur to a higher tooth like say 90....but now you must change pinion again to a lower tooth say back to a 16t for that same speed but lower motor temps....kinda really hard to explain or its just me.

you must think power from each motor spin...say the motor spins 7 times to turn the spur 1 time.....im going to search for the page that helped me back in the day>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ok found the link--yeah tire size matters also...take a look itll help more then me trying to talk rubbish on here

MMM, Speed.

Yeah I saw your truck, its fast. Mine moves quicker than the dingo, but to keep up in DAKAR I need more speed
I just ordered a 3cell 20C 11.1V 5400mAh LiPo, so well see how that helps and ill put a 18t on it and well go from there!!

3s will make a big difference, but the stock 27t motor will burn up fast.
change your 14t to maybe 18-20t and see if you like the speed on 2s.

17 pinion 87 spur is what I run in my short course truck. Kool motor temps n kool esc temps rite around 127 degrees. Good speed n descent torque.

i would believe wheeling is more the point than being "scale" - esp if its not against rules. everything is always a work in progress and throwing a full size body on even most comp rig seems to even the playing field quite well in this hobby.

Ahh this looks to be a lot of fun. TL01's would be an easy truck to drive. Too bad I've thinned out my heard, I had a few TL01's. They don't handle great but they run and run.

I may put my Thunder Power 10.5t in it so i can get lil more wheel speed out of it with less timing that i have on it with the Lrp 17.5t. Also with the Thunder Power set up i can run a 4s on it. Over kill. lol
