| New Club just over the Bridge in Kittery! We're a club based on the Seacoast of Southern Maine and NH dedicated to harnessing the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the scale RC four-wheel-drive community. Maximus Hobby Shop, 2 minutes from Portsmouth, NH in Kittery, will be forming a new Scale Rock Crawling club for the Seacoast area, based out of our back yard (Literally!) We will be tearing up the small scale outdoor clay track and installing what we hope to be one of the most unique scale rock crawling courses in New England. Inspired by other scale rock crawling courses around North America, and with input from our founding members we should have quite a unique park to test the limits of your scale rock crawler! Become a founding member and help us to construct a premier rock crawling playground this spring in our yard next to the shop. First year dues will be waived if you donate 10 hours of your time to helping us build our crawling park! More pics and info on our Facebook Page. Hope to see a bunch of you guys and gals there! |

My wife and I make our way over to the coast at least once a year, we'll have to stop by this summer and check it out. |

Cool! I'll keep you guys posted. Was down at the new course mapping out the basic layout yesterday! Spent some time last night planning specific obstacles and features. A few will be based on actual trail sections here in the North East and am currently sketching out some from places like The Rubicon Trail (Little Sluice) and Moab (Maybe Lions Back).

Heath and I are just waiting on the ground to firm up and the first delivery of 3/4" crushed stone for the base. The clay that is tjere now will be staying as a means for drainage.

Hey I would like to come and lend a hand but I'm still recovering from hand surgery so won't be able to do much heavy lifting but if there's anything within my limits that I could do would love to help. Just let me know. Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2 |

Cool guys! We're pulling up the old barriers from the mini SC course this week and the new construction starts after. Had the SSES Rubicon out on some rocks yesterday. |

Looks like I am going to have to make a rig that's a bit more scale.

You have mad paint skills... i could use a lesson or two in that department. Is the trailer styrene?

Thanks The trailer is ABS. Its a kit by Dinky RC that I modified. The stocker uses Axial Knuckles bolted to tabs on the bottom. No suspension at all. I had about 8 jillion leaf springs from various Trailfinder 2's laying around so I fabbed up some spring and shackle mounts from styrene. |

Great meeting you today Josh! We had a good morning moving dirt and rock around the course and staring a few features. Of course we had to do some testing after... Last edited by tozrovr; 05-05-2013 at 12:03 PM. |

Thanks, it was great meeting you guys also! The pics came out well for a quick phone shoot! So i'm leaning towards a little arched bridge over the spot i built the other day.... more for scale look than challenge. 2.2 width, possibly with a railing. But talking to Heath, he would like to see a larger "bridge" type obstacle at eye level similar to the second pic... but bigger and more challenging... I'm thinking that leaves room for trails and climbs under and around this "Bridge". I remember you mentioning Moab a few times. I would definitely like to see some awkward bowl type climbs or descents.( last two pics ) Smooth desert rock. Although i have a feeling it will take some convincing on Keiths end... Keep the mortar thin, so it could easily be broken and dug up if needed?... Hmm something to think about. Lastly i heard "village" or "town".... Not sure where you were headed with this idea. I can see a Barn style building with a sign displaying "Seacoast Scale Expedition Society Headquarters"! Maybe some trail toll booths? Of coarse a outhouse or two... oh the possibilities Last edited by bird8oy85; 05-08-2013 at 03:49 PM. |

I'm with you on all points. Heath wants some taller stuff, but I'm worried that a tall freestanding structure like he was talking about will attract a lot of attention...in a bad way. I'd hate to bust our butts on something and have vandals wreck it. Of course everything is under video surveillance, but that's not the point LOL.

oohhh Heath..... lol my bad. Names are not one of my strong points. Maybe barbed or razor wire lol ? I'm not that worried about vandals.... gives a reason to fix or build new.... Besides with video monitoring, we can find them and vandalize them! lol Last edited by bird8oy85; 05-08-2013 at 03:51 PM. |
