Hey Northern NJ Crawlers and people willing to travel. We have some guys that want to crawl, so we need a place to post g2g's etc. I am a big newbie to crawling, have only had my Nylint and 2.2 for about 3 weeks, got them both off Ebay. I am psyched to do some crawling and to meet other people who enjoy it and have some fun. I will be posting in this Thread the when and where I will be crawling, and anyone and everyone who is interested can meet up with me. Some outings will be scouting locations and others will be returning to good locations, but either way there will be some crawling going on. I encourage anyone that is going out to crawl, to post the details here, including the date, time, locations, and detailed directions, discription of your "real" vehicle, so people can find u. If we can get a core group of quys together on a regular basis, it would be great. Talk to ya soon. Last edited by Savrunner; 01-09-2007 at 11:18 AM.

Hey Savrunner... I grew up in Budd Lake... So long ago we could of used the "Crazy 8's" off smithtown Rd for RC'ing back then I'm down in the Boonton area, so not too far I'd be in for some crawling, work permitting... Saturday looks nicer weather wise... Sunday shows 40* chance of showers... Do you have any spots picked out yet or you scouting this weekend.. Man this weathers CRAZZZZY!?!?!? :-P JeepguyNJ... I sent you a pm the other day... not sure if it went through!?!? Wanted to chat

Hey guys, Weather.com is showing 40 percent chance of rain on both Sat and Sun. I think I will wait until Friday to decide. If the percentage drops, I may go out on Sat. This weekend would be a scouting trip, as I am new, I do not know where the good spots are yet, but I have some ideas. I thought for the first scouting trip I would check out Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. This area seems like it would have some good spots to crawl, at the very least it will provide a good trail ride for the crawlers. My second location is Washington Valley Park. I used to mountain bike there, its in or near the Bridgewater, Martinsville, Watchung, NJ area between rtes 22 and 78. Link to map of Mahlon Dickerson reservation, http://www.dwmorrison.com/malmap.htm http://www.somersetcountyparks.org/a..._valley_pk.htm Link to Washington Valley Park, map link is at the bottom of the page the above link takes you too. These are the two spots that come to mind for me to scout out and see what terrain is available. If anyone has other suggestions, let us know. Pray for some sun and hopefully we can schedule a g2g this weekend. Later Doug

Hey Rich, I want to stop by and check it out, but Saturday nights are hard. I work days and my wife works nights and we have a 14 month old, so I really only see my wife (awake) Friday nights, Saturday and Sundays before she goes to work so it is tough. There always seems like there is something to do. As far as racing, I do not have the $$ right now (after buying my crawlers) to buy foam tires. Can I race with stock tires on my T4 and rc18T? I assume that the carpet would chew the stock tires up. The T4 is also the giving me problems, even at the outdoor season, I pull the trigger and it hesitates then takes off. If you remember I was always last or second to last in that class, I have to find out why its doing that. I read that some T4s were shipped without some capacitors on the motor, but it "appears" mine has them, so I have no clue why it hesitates. Again, "tinkering time" is at a minimum with my son around. I'll see if I can get over there one of the next few races to check it out. Also, weather for weekend still is up in the air for Crawling, Ill let everyone know on Friday Last edited by Savrunner; 01-10-2007 at 07:31 AM.

Also thought of another place to check out, Worthington State Forest. You take Rte 80 to the water gap and there is a parking/recreation area off the last exit before the bridge into PA. There should be good crawling there. Its worth a check when the chance arises. Just a thought. If I have to wait til spring to crawl, its going to be a LONG winter. I did the same when I bought my Savage, bought it in Fall and could not really use it til Spring. LOL

| I know there is some hiking trails in the Gap area and the App. Trail goes thru there. There is crazy elevation changes there and lots of fallen rock on the side of 80, so maybe in the woods we can find something, (not too far from the parking or someone would have to call out a rescue squad to retrieve me, lol). Along the river if its low could be good also. I see all these videos and pics on this site of guys running in water, like total submerged. Its crazy, I know you can protect the electronics with stuff, but I could just not take the chance. I like it dry!!!!!!! Rich, is your scale crawler I have seen at the track your only rig for crawling? I love that truck. This hobby is so addicting, I would love to do a scale build someday. Slimbo, what are u building? Do you have a working rig right now? Post picks of the build as you go, if you can. As for crawling this weekend..........report on weather has not changed all week. I think I may wait to see what it is like out on Sat and Sunday (Rich I know you have the indoor races on Sat) and if its not too bad, I may check out Mahlon Dickerson reserve. If I decide to go, I will post it before I go, maybe some of you guys can make it if I go. Weekend after that is not good for me, going to Mass to visit family, and the weather looks good that weekend too. Dangnabbit, always the case. After that we will see. | Steve, Glad to hear from you, and thanks for posting a location. We will have to check it out for one of our g2g's. Guys I got my weekends mixed up. Next weekend I should be free, the weekend after is my trip to Mass, so..........weather permitting, I will try to get something together for next weekend, looks like this one will be a wash, its was sprinkling in Budd Lake this morning, who knows about tomorrow however, I will still post if I am going to Mahlon Dickerson to check things out. So check the post tomorrow morning if you are interested in meeting up with me if I go, and then next week I will talk about next weekend. I am psyched that we may be able to get some guys together to crawl. LATER |

Sorry Rich, I do all my internet stuff at work (have 56K at home), so I type quickly. LOL My plan is to check out the reservation tomorrow, early afternoon, weather permitting, still not sure of time. If I am going, I will post the time here a few hours before I go. I come into the reservation off of Rte 15. Several miles down Weldon Rd there is a parking lot on the right side of the road. I thought I would stop there first and see what is around there, and then go from there. There are so many trail heads along Weldon, but nowhere to park near them. If we do end up going, remember I drive the Grey Subaru Forrester. Then, Next weekend is a possiblity for me now, so we shall see. Hopefully the weather will hold tomorrow. Will post tomorrow morning either way,

Weather report for tomorrow is now 80% chance of showers, not looking good. So far, next weekend is looking dry. Rich, If I go next weekend, I will go on Sunday since you have races on Sat. that way you can come if you are available/want to. I say for next weekend we plan to go to the Delaware Water Gap to check it out. I still need to get to Walmart to buy some tennis balls and get them cut in half.
