| How about a scale run this weekend? I'm willing to risk my shiny orange paint job so see how I do against Yota - White Wash or Rock House (by the ticket stand)? Saturday or Sunday? By the way . . . I haven't seen that BLUE BRONCO in a while. I wonder if it still runs . . . Coon - How about that Land Cruiser - up for a challenge? John R |

| The Land Rover has the ARTR transmission with the stock gearing (87 Spur/14 Pinion). I am running the stock ARTR axles with HD (steel) ring and pinions (43/13), HD (steel) lockers, and when they come of backorder, aluminum knuckles and axle C's. I am running TRAXXAS big bore shocks from the T-MAXX (XXL) with 3 hole pistons, 20 wt oil, and Losi white springs. I ordered a set of Losi 4" crawler shocks but, - you guessed it, they are also back ordered. I am running the stock Axial driveshafts (later version). I have the stock Axial Y-link up front with a four link in the rear. . . . and I'm running a Hitec 645MG steering servo (for now) with the Hand Brothers SCX10 steering - only I am not using the HB panhard bar or the 3 link setup. When I get some more money, I will upgrade to the Hobbico CS-170 steering servo. I am running Axial 1.9 8-hole beadlocks with G8 Flat Irons. I think I have 2 to 3 ounces of lead in the rear tires, and 5 or 6 ounces in the front - I'd like to add more, but I would need (heavier) rims. I am running the Integy V11 50 turn motor with different brushes (the stock ones get stuck in the endbell and are crap). The Land Rover runs a 10.75 inch wheel base, and the track width is stock Axial (no spacers). I think with more wheel weight I could equal the performance of my Suzuki - right now, its close. The articulation is very good - I can max out the travel on the shocks before I start to lift a wheel, and it will compress the rear suspension about 1/4 of an inch on steep hill climbs. Balance is very near perfect. I found a scale company in England that makes a set of cut out Bushwacker style flares specifically for my truck - except they are $50 a set. They look to be first rate quality, and are neoprene rubber. They are made to run 2.2's on the New Bright LR3 body. We'll see - hopefully I get the job tomorrow so I can finish it up. John R |

I'm sure you have a good idea what motor you want to try now. Why didn't you like the cobalt puller motor? The Novak 55 is a good motor. So is the Integy V10/V11 motors. For $30 you can't go wrong. Personally, I would rather have a higher turn motor - say 50 or 55 turn, with a higher tooth pinion (like a 13 or 14 tooth for 2.2's, and 14/15 tooth for 1.9's). That way you have the extra torque to spin the larger pinion, rather than using a lower turn motor (less torque, more RPM) trying to generate torque at low RPM. John R. | |
