Default Time for a rebuild.... Scale truck this time....

Well, the time has come yet again. I got done with the rebuild of my comp rig, and I am pretty happy with it thus far. Time to move on to the Jeep.
Here is what it lookes like as of now:

Although it looked ok.... it was just to stock. JK meets Honcho build. Not much work put into it. I wanted something that was a bit more... "Custom".

So.... here we go.......

Default Some Progress

Tore apart the jeep.

I have never been thrilled with the flex that I got from the SCX-10 shocks, so tossed em.... and went with a something different.

Better flex now....

Mitch the bumper is looking sick thus far. I tore down the SCX-10. I couldn't stand a stock rig. Scored a Bushwhacker off James. Waiting on my parts from Corey too. Hope its done before the 27th....

That is what my goal is as well. But I can't start painting until we get some warmer weather. Don't think the paint would set up well in a garage that is about 25 degrees.

Default Sliders...

Work started on some sliders...

I will probably start the primer and paint work on the body this weekend. It should be warming up enough that I can shoot it in the the garage, and bring it inside to cure.

I am waiting on a PM back from Bowtie about some new decals for the jeep, and I also still need to pick up some clear lexan sheets. My Jeep is gonna have windows!
My goodies from RPP should be here on Friday or Saturday.. I can't wait!

Default Cleand up the rear end...

I never liked how the rear end looked.... so... Out came the dremel.

Shaved off the old servo mount spots, and a new Dinky R/C 4 link for the rear end.

Still has great flex in the rear.

And just so you all know...
If you strech a 1.9 tire over a 2.0 rim.. and then glue it on there.... Then take it off said 2.0 rim, it will no longer mount on some new 1.9 rims.

Looks like I am off to RPP for some new rubber.
Question is, do I go with Mickey Thompson Baja Claw
http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4z-t0048.htm

My old stand buy... Rok Lox 1.9 Comp Tires, of witch I have a spare tire of...
http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4roklox19.htm

Or something a bit different. Tomahawk 1.9 Scale Tires. The same set that was used in the original build of the truck that I wanna mimic...
http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4thawk19.htm

Anyone have a set of the for mentioned tires they wanna sell??

I am using these:

Beautiful wheel! Just got to get tires mounted up to them now!

Default Body work...

So, the first coat of primer that I used for the body sucked A$$... and pulled the red finish off the plastic, thus fubar'ing my body up.

no, that is not a reflection of the box that it is sitting on.. the primer turned PINK, and became very very soft... so much that I could scratch it off with my finger after 24 hrs of setting up.

So... after some time on the forum, and some help from DJ and Aaron.... I stared stripping the primer and the NB paint off...

So, after about 7 rounds of stripping of the paint... and a large chemical burn on my arm

This is where it stands....

I think this is about as good as it's gonna get... so time to bust out the sand papers....
Wish me luck!
