What's up Vox and fellow islanders... I am building a couple crawlers right now but as soon as I'm up and running it would be cool to get a bunch of folks together. There's some hiking trails mid-island that would make for some fun crawling.

Hey I'm new to the crawling/trail scene. My 3 year old son believe it or not got me into it. He runs a HPI crawler king with light mod. I'm getting a SCX10 for fathers day. Looking to see if anyone else crawls/trails with their kids for a friendly meet up/crawl. We've done the port jeff rock which was awesome and are looking for some other areas and people into the same hobby. We are up in Setauket.

At the risk of sounding like a Craigslist Missed Connection ad...Saw a few guys at the lower portion of Belmont Lake yesterday while riding my bike. (off of Park Ave.) Anyone here part of that group? I didn't have a chance to stop and introduce myself as I was pressed for time but figured I'd check in here and see.

I know just from riding at Belmont that there are some pretty decent spots but you'll want to enter from the south portion off Park Ave. There's a good mound of dirt west of Southards Pond for some jumping action. Some of the trail between Sunrise and Southern State looks like it'd be decent. I saw a group out there on Saturday but they were down by the basketball courts off Park Ave. Didn't stop to talk to them though.

I went all around today with my wife, loads of trails but no real "crawling" areas that I saw due to overgrowth of plants and such. I did see a huge pile of compost but decided not to cover my wraith in horse poo... I gotta go to hempstead tomorrow and I might check out hempstead lake state park, but we are in search of rocks and logs and if not we gotta head east lol

I haven't. I have comp crawlers, no trail rigs yet. I haven't even unpacked my stuff since my move here. I've been looking for places myself and figured that Belmont would be a decent place for a scale/trail rig.

I checked out hempstead lake this spring. Walked around the entire lake running the wraith. Not much there for crawling. Makes for "okay" trail riding I guess. Don't expect much, except a $10 parking fee.

Watch for poison ivy as well.
