bad idea if you want any hope of crawling well. If you're running all stock components, you'll blow up the ESC with a 15T motor. I'd keep the 27T motor, re gear it to 96/15 and extend the wheel base. Before I got a 55T motor, the stock motor did a pretty good job of keeping me entertained speed wise, but could still crawl moderately well. With this you'll have a truck that is moderate at best for both speed and crawling. Wanting a fast truck that is also a good crawler is like asking for a 747 you can park in your garage, it's just not gunna happen.

I run a Multiplex 18T 550-size motor on mine, and even geared 96/15 it can do a pretty good clip and still crawl fairly well. I'm also running a Moped V16R bravo ESC, the stock ESC gave up the ghost on me. One BIG thing that will make your truck go a LOT faster as it is would be to buy a good NiMh battery. I've got a 3300 Venom pack that I run and it really woke it up.

EDIT: Yes, a better battery ie: NIMH 3000 - 3300mah will really help. The stock battery is pretty weak. | |

Best thing to do is get a Holmes Hobbies Cobalt puller motor (10T or 7T) or a Torquemaster motor. These motors give you the best low speed crawlability with lots of speed. I run a 10T Puller on a 9cell NiMh pack and it will crawl and go fast. http://holmeshobbies.com/home.php?cat=17 Another option is the Revolver Black from Holmes Hobbies, when coupled with a Mamba 25 ESC and running on 11V you get some great speed with the right gearing. The low speed control is not as good as a brushed motor but unless you are doing competitions it is just fine. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=19&page=1

No, not really. I run a 55T Integy motor with stock ESC and a 7 cell battery, and it never gots hot anymore. I even have the rx and esc in a (mostly) sealed plastic box for water resistance (note: NOT water proof!). It used to overheat ALL the time with the stock motor, but the minute I went to the 55T, all my overheating problems went away.

the 55T's ARE pretty slow, but it'll never overheat. If you want a compromise, maybe look at a 35T-45T motor. The nice thing is that brushed motors are cheap (~$20) so they're not too expensive to experiment with. If anything, you might consider getting two motors, a low turn (anything lower than the stock 27T and you'll need a new ESC) for speed and a high turn (55T+) for crawling. If you'r running a stock chassis, it should only take a minute or two to change them...
