ax-10 scorpion vs. ax-10 scorpion RTR? :shock:Whats the difference between the RTR and the i guess non RTR? I got the RTR and i was wondering if it would of been a better idea to go with the other one...is there any differences? it just looks like one comes complete and the other you have to build and but additional items...:-( |
They're pretty similar. Obviously, the RTR comes with the transmitted, reciever, ESC, etc. It has plastic links instead of aluminum ones. It has one (optional) locker instead of two. It comes with a 27 turn motor instead of the 55 turn that many folks use for crawling. Overall, its a good rig. Play with it a little, and you may discover things you want to change but the RTR is a good way to get started. |
the rtr comes with the slipper clutch |
The RTR is missing the Alum 3 link set up, alum steering links, but includes a slipper clutch and a alum front locker. Its a great starting point, I enjoy mine |
Any one know how similar they are in terms of geometry? Can you switch out regular AX-10 upgrade parts for the plasicrap on the RTR? I've been wanting to get one as well but have been wondering about that. |

good to know, thanks scott |
I have a rtr and all the kit parts fit on it. The RTR also has the better locker in the rear also. With the way everyone is upgrading all the parts from the kit, I would just buy the rtr and sell the stuff you dont use. |
"thumbsup"ok sounds awesome...and i was reading that the rtr has a 27 turn motor? i was wondering if upgrading to a big motor is a good idea? i dont want to go to high and not have enough umph to get up a rock or something but i dont want to be dissapointed with the lack of power... so if i got a 75 would that just be to radical? maybe a 65 what do you guys reccomend |
alot of people run the 55. its a good balance in wheelspeed and torque. then again, you can get a low turn motor and gear it so it has lots of torque. the plus on the higher turn motors is you have a longer run time. |
how big of a difference is the run time? is it at all noticable or is it basically like oh the 75 run 5 minutes longer than the 65? any ideas on how long the run times are exactly? |
I seem to like my 55t the best. |
not too sure on the run time difference, but I get about 45 minutes with a 75t on just a 1500 mah battery. |
