Need suggestions.
 

Ok, I'm trying to get into the rockcrawling area of rc's. I've been more into speed. However I'd like to venture out into rockcrawling as off-roading is something I enjoy.

So, my question is...

Whats a good truck? Stock (kit or RTR) thats budget freindly, and not a lot of fabbing thats gotten to be done. I'd like it so I can rockcrawl it or drive it in dirt and muddy places (of course with the proper steps taken to do so). At 14 I don't have a steady source of income, but I can make the money to buy the truck then assemble it and have enuff to buy some odd-and-ends. So, what should I go for?

If you haven't yet already you should check out the axial ax-10 kit 0r rtr depending on what you'd rather do. The rtr is more complete than the kit(which doesn't have any electronics) so all you need is a 7.2v battery and charger and your good to go. By the way the rtr is around $270.00 to $290.00 depending. Is the RTR a good truck? Thats my main concern I know I can always mod it too my liking.

"thumbsup"If you haven't you should check out rccaractions reveiw of it. They liked it very much and it's perfect for you. I've had the kit and it is bullet proof. the rtr is a little different but overall very similiar

the kit is also very good but you'll be paying more depending on your electronics choice

WK, all the way. Stretch it a little and you'll be golden. It's a WAY better basher/crawler than an axial. I have 4 of them and an Axial trust me.

For a crawler, I'd go with the axial. The Wheely King is built for bashing. It can be turned into a competent crawler, but you're stuck with a transmission that has a much higher center of gravity. The axial was originally designed as a crawler. The RTR is a great way to go for people on a budget. Most of the things you'd change (like tires) you'd change on the kit anyway. The other things (like links) are cheap.

If you already into rc and going fast, then you likely already have radio equipment. I'd stay away from the rtr axial. You'll get higher quality parts with the kit. And by building it you'll get a better feel for how everything works. With the kit and what you read on this forum you could have a very decent crawler.

Build it your self, and if you have to buy the rtr then take it apart and rebuild it anyway. "thumbsup"

the kit is the best but you do have to spend a bit for quality electronics

you also don't have to modify the ax-10 terribly much if at all to get a decent crawler

Alright, anyone got an idea of how much I'll spend on electronics? I have battery's, and charger just need the speed controll etc.

any where from $200.00 for the novak brushless to the $90.00 for the novak rooster crawler plus an extra 50 bucks maybe for a lathe motor(I'm canadian so the prices ar different here)

I have a Traxxas remote with the yellow crystal (27.145) if that works?

Get the Kit I have seen it as cheap as $200 USD on ebay and other sites
Castle Creations Sidewinder speed control - $65-75 (Great for crawlers)
Xpower 13kg Servo on ebay for $14-$18
Team Integy 55t Lathe Motor less than $21 almost anywhere
So about $325 - $350ish with shipping use your radio, battery, charging equipment and your good to get started in crawling

Later I would suggest Castle link to program the esc, CC bec, aluminum beadlocks, losi rock claws, and a three channel radio to use a dig setup. Thats my suggestion anyway not sure what your budget is but i know crawling isn't cheap.
