Fast Charging 2/3 A packs
 

I'm about to get a couple of 7 cell 2/3 A packs for my Ax-10. My charger's instructions say that I can fast charge them at 6.5 Amp. Before I fast charge them though, what kind / how many charges should I break them in with? Reccommended Amps and for how long?

What kind of charger says you can charge them at 6.5 amps?

I would not go over 1 amp on those cells....

I wouldn't go over 1.5 amps.

That has to be for SubC cells. Don't charge the 2/3A's over 1C.

Listen to these guys. If you charge a 2/3A battery pack at 6.5 amps you will blow it up. Even charging at 1.5 amps can get it hot enough to melt the shrink wrap. I'm sure that somewhere in the manual of your charger it probably says to allways charge according to the batteries manufacturer's instructions.

With a 2/3A battery pack built with 7 1500mah cells charging at 1 amp it'll take about 45 to 60 min to charge up. This is a fast charge for this type of battery pack.

Thanks!! I would have probably just done as the charger instructions said. I wouldn't have even asked if I hadn't read another thread where people were talking about charging them with low amps. I just thought they were talking about break in though. That's why I asked.

So at a 1 or 1.5 amp peak charge it takes just under an hour? My first few charges should be slow charges though... right? Same amps just a slow charge??

with the 2/3 cells ..i found the slower u charge them ..the longer u will have them around

alot of pack failers in the detroit area with guys charging at 1 amp....seems like the failures slowed down when we dropped below 1 amp

As low in amps as you can would be best. If it's the night before a comp, you got time, charge them at .5 amps(that's the lowest my charger will go to). 1 amp or 1.5 amp charge rates is for when you are in the field and need them charged quickly.
