Default Batteries?

What battery(s) will be needed for a setup something like this:

3 servos (1 front steer, 1 rear steer, 1 dig) Hitec 645's

4ch controller with reciever
(probably the spectrum style dx4 or whatever name brand 4 channel controllers there are like used with planes)

rooster crawler esc with 55t or lower motor

being used on custom built chassis with 14" wheelbase

Thanks for any help.

I would say a 3 cell Lipo but the Rooster Crawler ESC can only handle up to 7 Cell NiMH or a 2 cell Lipo. If you went with a NiMH battery, I would nothing less than 3000 maH battery. If you went Lipo, I would say nothing less than 1500 maH. Lipos generaly get twice then runtime vs NiMH at same maH.

Default Batteries?

So any suggestions on a better esc that will handle more power or is the rooster sufficient? And yes I am sure this has been asked before......

Say what? A maH is a mah, it doesn't matter what the battery type is. In a plane you will get longer runtime because of lighter weight, but in a crawler it doesn't work that way.

A more powerful ESC would be something like a sidewinder or mamba max.

I would suggest the same, at least some 2/3a cells of 1500mah. Sub-C would be good for more runtime. A lipo pack of at least 2000mah would be great too.

x2! A lipo with 1500 mah and a Nimh with 1500 mah will get the same runtime. The lipo may have the edge because of a little less weight but they should get nearly the same runtime...

Now if we want to nitpick on total watt/hour delivered the lipo will have an edge because of higher average voltage, but that is the nature of lipo.

Holmes Hobbies it the guy to purchase your batteries and/or new esc from. He has a great selection of equipment and he knows his stuff. Good Luck.
