new to ax10 a couple suspension questions hey all i've been doing some searching around, and haven't been able to find anything specific to my question so here it goes. The Center of Gravity of the AX10 is way too high for me. I have moved the battery down to the front axle, got rid of the battery mount plate, moved all the electronics lower, but the Center of Gravity is still to high. I currently have about 3.1" of ground clearance, abut i want to live somewhere around 2.5"-2.75" of ground clearance. what is the easiest way of doing this? I still want to add some weight to the tires to get the weight closer to the ground, but the crawler still sits too high. I was thinking about replacing the shocks and springs, any suggestions? are their any modifications i can do to the stock springs to make them ride lower? thanks for the suggestions |
you can put spacers inside of the shock and that should get you close to where you want to be. |
cut the stock springs and put limiters. |
traxxas big bores with losi springs lowered mine to about 2.75 and helped out |
The black bumpstops that the instructions say to put on the outside shaft of the shocks needs to go on the inside to lower the ride height. |
I used HPI "soft" springs on the stck shock bodies. I cut off about 5 coils from the springs to help the suspension compress a bit. I left just enough spring coils to keep the springs in the seats when the shock is fully extended. |
The Losi shocks with white springs made a HUGE difference for me. I haven't seen a need for stops, yet. IMHO, the stock shocks/springs were all but useless :( I tried several softer springs with the stock shocks but was never happy. |
shocks Losi 4 inch crawler shocks. "thumbsup" |
