|  Motors-# of Turns?
What is the recommended # of turns for general/all-round crawling? I have a Ax-10 on the way, and a 55t motor. But I have heard anything form a 45t to a 75t works? What is the performance difference? Any recommended gear ratios? Thanks for any help you can give. |

55turn with a 14tooth pinion will work well for you. Up the voltage (use a 3s lipo or 8cell Nimh) and you will see a big improvement in top speed. The higher the number of turns the more torque and slower speeds. I do not see a need to go with a higher turn motor than 55t as a 55t has plenty of power and great slow spped control.

I think a 35-45 turn is a MUCH better option.

my rig is currently running w/ a 55turn motor 13 tooth pinion and 90 tooth spur some feel my wheel speed is too low but then again thats why its called crawling  but honestly the price of spur and pinion gears is low enough that trial and error is easily affordable |

I run a 35t with 18t pinion and 87t spur. I have plenty of torque and tons of wheel speed. I will be going 3c lipo soon and will gear down to a 12t pinion when I do. I think the 55t will be just fine for you. If you think you need more wheel speed try going up a few teeth on the pinion first. Depending on your esc you can also up the voltage to get more speed out of it. Trust me when you get started you will start to understand why the veterans are running with more wheel speed. Theres alot of steep inclines that you just won't get up without some wheel speed. |

i run a 55t motor and i use to run 14t pinion but swithched to 24t to get some more wheel speed

I'm running stock 27t till I burn it up! It Is starting to stop once in a while! I will get the Tiken fx r and 55t combo nexted. I'm running 10t and 90t. the brake works stronger with and smaller pinion and stock speed controler. Matt

Do you think you'll want some speed for driving around or just pure crawling? If you will be bashing around, I would suggest a 45-turn. Most comp crawlers use 55-turn motors. Anything like a 75-turn motor usually doesn't have the needed wheel speed for many climbs unless you run a 3S pack.

My 55t is just a bit too slow to goof off in the dirt. IMO 55t and up is pure crawler and 35t and under is pure rock racer. 45t and 20t pinion is the happy medium. However, good at everything means great at nothing.
