I think i saw both my methods posted already. If thers a stream or pond near by, after the mud i just drive it down into the pond if its clear enough and tool around underwater until it doesnt leave muddy trails anymore. Or if theres no pond or stream, i just huck the whole mess into the dishwasher. Then every few months i pull and replace all the ceased bearings.
