Default First timer here, Whats the best kit to start off with?

This is my 1st time after my friend got me into this type of hobby. I was wonder what the best start off kit for me? I want something that will crawl good on rock/offroad and can drive through water. I was thinking a High Lift kit from tamiya or this kit? http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Pre-Order...R-p-16939.html

I'm not sure what would be the best for me to start with. I've seen some on ebay such as high lift kit. Anything I need to know about before taking it in water?

From what I have read that would be a great kit, I have the kit version and really likt it. As far as the water goes, you will need waterproof electrics. What you are looking at does not come with electrics so you can buy what ever you want.

So you're saying every kit out there does not come with electrics? How are is it to install all the needs?

I'm guessing here but, is your question "How difficult is it to install the electronics?" Not very, simply bolt/velcro them in place. To answer you first question, that is what a kit is, you put it together (all of it) and choose the ESC/Motor/Radio you want for it. Maybe you would prefer an RTR. Axial makes one of those too, all you have to do is put the stickers on, put batteries in the transmitter and charge up a battery and your good to go.

You want to build it completely? Some of your previous posts didnt seem that way, but it is a good idea to build it since you learn how it works. Some bodies fit, some don't, it depends.

Welcome to the addiction Ron! Ide look into a rtr or artr Axial AX-10 kit at your local hobby shop. It wouldn't hurt to look into the local comp scene and see what other options are out there in person. Good Luck

Ron, I may be wrong, but you seem a little confused. Axial makes three versions. The kit, you get lots of plastic bags with parts, nothing is built. The ARTR, the truck is built but you need to add all electrics, motor, battery, reciever, servo, and speed contoler. And the RTR, I believe this truck is built, just add batts and go. From what I have read the ARTR is the best truck to buy due to the included upgrades but you will have a complete working knowledge of your truck if you go the kit route. The RTR will need lots of upgrades to make it a worthy crawler. I would not buy the RTR. As far as what bodies will fit the AX-10, most 1/10th scale should fit, if it fits the Traxxas Stampede it should fit the Ax-10.

thanks for the link, my local hobby shop have one and they have all the good upgrades as well. I'm still unsure which kit is best for me to start off with. I'm thinking this would be the best for me to start with. Then I could upgrade along the way. The ax10 RTR kit.
