Question Berg/Clod DIG questions...

These are probaly really stupid questions, but I was told there is no such thing as stupid questions.

How does DIG work with a dual motor set-up (Berg or Clod axles)?
Can you use both front and rear DIG?
Do the 2.2's on Berg axles suffer from Clodstall like the supers on Clod axles? If so how is everyone loving thier Berg set-ups so much...

Any help would be nice. I've only had TLT/AX10 shafties in the past and would like to build one of thes dual motor crawlers.

Thanks

Okay I concluded its an electronic DIG, but how does it work? Inline with the motors and ESC or what. Is there a kit available out there or are all the dual motor dig set-ups home built? Any help helps.

most of the berg builds are running a dual micro switch dig.
It uses a single servo and toggles the switches either side.
Basically;
-one servo position for 4wd - ie the rear motor is connected in parralell to the front and as such sees the same voltage.
-one servo position for free wheel - ie the rear motor is disconnected from the front and free wheels with just the drag of the brush friction and magnetic field from the stator.
-one servo position for front dig - ie the rear motor is disconnected from the front and the ends of the armature on the rear motor are shorted together. This creates a dynamic brake situation where the current produced in the armature opposes the field magnets and retards the motor speed.
To see how the switches are connected do a search or look in the berg thread

Default Why not 2 ESCs?

With all the complexity of making a manual DIG, why not just use 2 ESCs for rigs with 2 motors?

The mechanical DIG takes up as much room as a 2nd ESC.

I guess the down sides would be

1. you have to use a 2 stick controller and wrap your brain around how 2 drive it. left stick - front motor, right stick - rear motor, one of the sticks for left/right.

2. cost.

Any other down sides to using 2 ECSs?

Hello, new to this arena but a veteran to RC. I too was wondering about using DIG with dual ESC's. Got a NN Clod with rooster crawler ed. I was wondering if anyone here has used the PunkRC computer mod.

http://www.clodmodracing.com/news/

It eliminates the extra switches, servo and added solder points while adding functionality. Was wondering what you guys thought of the idea.
