Default Newbie electric Q/help? *moved*

*EDIT* Moved from electrics

So I have been in the full size truck/crawling scene for a long time. A friend came home with a Scorpion a while ago and I was hooked as soon as I seen it.

Now here lies the problem....... I dont know my head from my anus when it comes to electronics.

Now that that is out in the air this is my problem.....glitching at the bottom of the forward /reverse. The steering seems fine. I have been told that gltching occurs from signals from the motor getting mixed in with speed or steering controls. How does a person keep this from happening in a cramped space like a RC car?

Here are a couple of pics of what I have going on. I have rearranged the wires more than a few times to no avail. Any help will be appreciated!

Shorten the wires going to your motor. When you re-solder them to the motor make sure you twist the wires aroung one another, that helps to cut down the interfernce.

Also do the same on the battery wires.

Keep the servo wires away from the motor and battery wires and if you can away from the chassis.

Be sure that your caps are installed correctly on your motor too.

Hope this helps....

Yup in those pictures I didn't see any caps on your motor. Those are essential if you're having glitching issues. Also try running the exposed part of your receivers antenna wire through some fuel tubing, and make sure that none of it touches the frame/chassis. I can see in the pictures that the antenna wire may have been cut and reattached before... that may be your problem too. Especially in AM frequencies, that wire is tuned by a particular length and continuity. So the slightest changes can cause glitching.

Also do everything that 1rcmonster suggested.

Good luck

the glitching you are seeing is most probably RF interferance on that AM radio. there are many things that will interfer with AM singal transmission such as other am radios (limited chnnls) any wallyworld, radioschwack, or kmart rc use these channels as well. AM signals from radio stations you listen to, to lightning, all cause interferance on AMs.

you may want to try an FM or a 2.4 unit to illimnate the AM signal as the cause. you can also twist the wires up (think braiding) which can help wiht interferance as well.

Have any of you heard about using thin copper sheeting around servos to stop glitching?
