| AX-10 kit or Berg 2.2 Truck Kit
I am in the Army and deployed to Iraq till after the new year. I am looking for a crawler and have read a bunch of threads on here and did some searching. It has came down to either the Axial AX10 Scorpion Complete Package Deal 1 from The Crawler Store with the AX10 Scorpion Direct Bolt on Tube Frame. The other one I am looking at is the Enroute Berg 2.2 Truck Kit with the TCS Crawlers Berg Chassis Kit. I am looking for something I can enter in local comps. Any help would be great thank you. |

first off i want to thank you for your bravery second, id go with the ax10.if you want to run a berg in a comp your going to end up spending more in the long run. ax10 w/ the edge tuber chassis a droop suspension and a dig is all ur gonna need. plus tube chassis' look sweet w/ the berg your gonna need 2 motors 2 esc's. dont get me wrong, the bergs are very capable crawlers but im not a big fan of clod style axles. btw also pick up a set of new tires the stockers suck! personally id go with either the losi rock claws, rock carvers (if they are released by the time u order your kit)or the proline hammers Last edited by NeXt559; 08-27-2008 at 06:54 PM. |

I agree, I would go with the ax10 I have been told they are a great crawler with very few needed parts to go comp. |

Hello CowboysYJLT1, Couldn't agree more! Thank you for your bravery Just in response to your last question regarding additional hopups. If you are in Iraq, I am just going to presume that you are unable to source for parts. Having said this, you may want to bullet proof your axles and your shafts. To do this, I believe the popular setups include the following: MIP Drive Shafts CVDs Alum. Knuckles Alum. C Hubs Hope this helps, Mike Quote:

Hahaha... I'm over here contemplating the same thing... I'm assuming by your screen name you are missing your 1:1 rig as well! Keep your head down over here airborne!

You picked an awesome way to kill any downtime you have over there! The rig you are contemplating is perfect for over there, it is easy to maintain just keep the Rock Lizards on it until you get home (then Losi Rock Claws are the only way to go). I did one rotation over there with the 41st Rescue Squadron, I'm a HH-60 Crew Chief. I appreciate everyone who has served over there! I want to go back but they won't let me because I have a titanium plate in my neck now. Good luck over there and keep crawling! |

Thank you for your service to our country. I'd go with the Berg axles or maybe the soon to be released Bully axles by RC4WD. IMO the MOA rigs have advantages over the shaft driven trucks. The "motor on axle" shaftless trucks are changing the direction of RC Crawling and making the shaft driven trucks less desirable. Wait awhile you'll be able to buy yourself a shafty rig pretty cheep. The Axial AX-10 is a great truck but if your planning on being as competitive as you possibly can just start out by building yourself a MOA rig you'll start out being ahead of the game. |

remember to pick up a set of internal springs for a droop set up which you'll need for the edge chassis also instead of just the regular aluminum knuckles go with the rcp max clearance knuckles. same price- much tighter turning. Last edited by NeXt559; 08-31-2008 at 02:30 PM. |

Berg all the way if you want to be competitive.
