| Tranny Lube Question
I just bought a new AX-10 Transmission for a project. The instructions were not like the instructions in my AX-10 kit. Everything was the same except it did not show that I should gease the tranny gears, where the truck kit instrucions show that you do. I can't remember what my gears were in the truck kit, but with this tranny, there is a combination of metal and plastic grears, with no metal to metal contact. The only reason I can think of for the difference is that if the truck kit had all metal gears in the tranny. (but I can't remember). Can anyone shed some light on this? Does this tranny with the plastic/metal combo need grease? I'm thinkng not since it isn't much different that a plastic spur meshed with a metal pinion. I would just like to be sure. Thanks. |

The kit should have only come with the plastic/metal gear combo. I use lithium on my gears and it works fine. You could probably run it dry without a problem.

I run my tranny dry. I don't think there is any need for lube.
