I am betting that he is referencing the RC4WD Lube.

The best thing I've found to lube the R2D including RC4WD lube is "GearJelly" by Rocksmith Engineering. I've found it sticks to the gear faces longer than any other lube. It also quiets down the gears as the R2 is a noisy little sucker. You can find Rocksmith on the vendor site here on RCC. I'm not aware of anyone using a liquid crankcase type lubricant inside the R2D transmission.

why not wheel bearing grease? i have some good high temp stuff i here on all my bearings and gears in my bajas, and planned on useing it in my crawler project with the vf dig? any reason why i shouldnt use it. seems to me it would be perfect, high stick, doesnt melt away at higher temps so no running or mess leaking out. and it lasts forever, or should in these units, plus should provide very good lubrication. |
