| how much should a 2.2 class crawler weigh??
What is a good base line for the total weight of the car?? And how should the weight be balanced??? I am just looking for some information, we have 6 different 2,2 class RC crawlers where i work (Trail Gear):-P and lately I have been stealing them and throwing them on the scale, now that I have all the weights, i want to look for corelations between the weight and how it is split up and the performance of the car. |

Alot of it is personal prefrence, and depending on how much traction your terain you play on has. If the rocks you run on have alot of traction you can get away with a lighter rig, etc. My 2.2 weighs about 6lbs 8oz. and it's about 60/40 weight ballanced (front heavy) so if the front end gets over a peak it will help pull down to keep from getting high centered, better to go forward then get reverse points. |

well its all gonna depend on how its setup and if its a tvp or tube chassis. In general though 2.2 comp rigs weigh between 5.5 and 7 pounds. As far as weigh distribution you wan tht e weigh more up front. I would say 60-70% up front and 40-30% out back. Oh and you want the weight as low as you can get it. Keep the electronics and batteries low and weight in the wheels. |

5 lbs with the new rebuild and its front heavy. I like balance though, so I didn't over do it with the front bias. My crawler can carry a front or rear wheel over a gap and I can back up just about anything I can crawl up forward. |

I just built a new rig that weighs 5lbs a full pound less than my previous set up and let me tell you that it made a huge improvement. I also biased the weight as far forward a possible. The new truck will make lines that my old one couldnt.

my axial is 4 lbs.-10 oz., 6 oz. in each front wheel and 4 in each rear. Very happy with its performance. I've got to be careful on the large tumbles. Not to mention, the lighter the rig, the more ground clearance you can have without sacraficing COG

My comp rig weighs 5.25lb and my sons is right at 5.50lb. We like to run all of our electronics centralized and low and use lighter/heavier tire pairs to adjust front/rear weight balance as needed depending on the course.
