Default Too Much Traction a Bad Thing?

I guess this is rhetoric... but

I have been experimenting with some different tires and foam setups lately. I have seen several times when my Panthers have so much traction in cracks or when they get bound up that the tires just wad up... sometimes so much that it stalls out my setup.

When running the claws, they seem to have almost as much traction (depending on the surface) but don't get bound or wad up as much as the Panthers. They continue to spin and eventually climb out of the bind. This usually results in a more controlled exit of the spot.

There are situations where the Panther's traction just can't be beat... and it's a great thing. But when there is so much traction that it stalls you out (or breaks you... depending on voltage) is that too much? Can you benefit from less?

More foam stiffness in the Panther.

Yep, a stiffer foam will fix that problem. You will still have insane traction too.

I have two memory foams stuffed in each Panther. I was running with no vent holes and found traction to be fine, but I was deflecting in places where I thought they should just climb. So I vented them and got better traction and less deflection, but that is when the wadding problem started.

Memory foam is over-rated.

To be honest you don't have the whole secret, but to share what I shared with you, full Axial Lizard foams work great front and rear.

I have also decided that memory foam is way over rated.
I have been working with the panther white stiff foam. You have to take and push the foam from the side and trim the buldge out of the center to keep it from ballooning the center of the tread out and that is it.

Yeah... that is what I am beginning to feel like too. Especially after going back to regular foam after having not used it in a while.

This will be interesting as I have never run Panthers with conventional foam.

I have the same problem with my Panthers and stock memory foam:

Im not sure what Im going to do at the moment. I have not put enough time on the tires yet, so Im not sure exactly what to expect. At some point I will try some different foams (NWTracTech), or try and figure something else out.

I would never think you could have to much traction. I thought traction was a good thing.

Correct.
But when a tire does what it is doing in the picture above, this is very minimal traction.

When it wads up in a cack instead of moving forward, the traction is doing you no good. What I am eferring to is a little worse than in the pic above. That pic just looks like you need stiffer foam.
