Jus bought myself a Spektrum DX6i TX, thought that would be a good start.

Im not made of money, but i want to do it proper.. independent steering and 'normal' 4 wheel steer, would like individual motor control on each stick too, but i'll settle for single throttle control initially to get it rolling.

What i get confused with is the power situation, BEC circuits etc..

I would get:
2 x Hitec HS-7955TG
2 x Castle Creations 1/10 Sidewinder Sport ESC
1 x Castle Creations CC BEC 10A Switching Regulator
1 x Castle Creations Castle Link Programming Kit
2 x good brushed crawler motor
1 x 3000+mAh 3S lipo pack

That's more or less what I run on my gmade axled super (I have the older 5955TG servos).

You should upgrade servo mounts to the aluminium items. Plastic ones have too much flex.
The stock 12T pinions aren't that good for crawling. 9T or lower is good. I run 6T myself (You have to shave a bit of material off the cases to run 6T).
