| my new superslick crawler
Hi, everyone I just got me one of the superslick trucks, and having a good time with it these thing are a blast. I made it about 1 inch longer the drive shafts/drive shaft tubes. I got the body off of some toy at wall mart it is some kind of monster truck toy that jumps thought a ring of fire incase you would want to get one. The tires and wheel are narrowed so it would be easier on the servo. I also lock the center diff. This thing crawls a lot better. I still need to mount the body yet if you would like to see pics go to page 3 at www.intvisuals.com/twisted.htm |

I bought one the other day. They have changed the design and no longer are they geared low for crawling and are $20 at Toys R Us. You have to buy an Offroad Kit for $15 to get the lowered gears. I looked at Radio Shack and they have some motors that will fit, but you have to buy 5 motors in a kit for $15. The new model has geared axles with spiders. I took them apart and locked them with epoxy. They run with 4 AA batteries. I had some old Tyco 4.8v packs and got some Deans plugs and re-wired mine to run on nicads. It's non-propo too. The motor sits in the rear axle and spins gears that turn the rear diff and then in turn run a drive shaft connected through the chassis to a front driveshaft to the front axle. The front axle has a small motor that operates the steering. Overall it might be pretty neat with some work. I'm going to find a different body for it and see if I can find some more scale looking tires. The stock tires only have about 1mm of tread depth. I wish I could find some small scale Swampers like I saw in another thread on the SS. I just bought it since I really didn't have a reason to hack up my 1:6 Nylint Jeep but wanted to see what I could do to one. I'd like to pick up a micro servo and and speed control to see what I can tear up. But who knows, Keith |
